(- NOTE -) The walkthrough was written as though you will follow it from
beginning to end. Some people will play it like this, and some others won't.
So if you are just lost and need help in a certain section of the guide, look
through the titles of the Table of Contents to see what's familiar. When you
find what you're looking for, you may notice that I say something like,
"You've already been here before, so continue on through...", or something
like that; for that, you'll need to search back through the FAQ. All you
should have to do is search the name of the place you're at, like -Muse-, and
you will find all of the sub-sections in the city of Muse, as long as you
include the dashes before and after the name, because it will take you

straight to those sub-sections. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Introduction |

Hello, fellow RPG fans! Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Johnathan
Sawyer, but feel free to call me Zylicyde. Welcome to the strategy guide I
have created for one of the greatest RPGs of all time for the Playstation,
Suikoden II.
~
Once upon a time there was a boy who lived in an army garrison close to the
border between Highland and the City alliance. Whenever he closed his eyes, he
could picture the town where he was born in his mind's eye. Genkaku, his
adoptive father, was strict with the boy, leaving him with many teachings.
Nanami was the boy's foster sister. She and Genkaku were all the family he had
ever known, Genkaku and the boy were always in Nanami's thoughts. The boy also
had a close childhood friend named Jowy and there were no secrets between
them. They learned many lessons and experienced many things in life together.
But there was one thing in the boy's life that meant more to him than
anything. And that was the sight of the town of his birth. One day, his eyes
met Jowy's, and Jowy laughed. "Changed your clothes already, huh?" he said.
"You're really anxious, I see." It was only natural, because tomorrow the boy
would be returning to his birthplace, the town of Kyaro.
How the war had started, or for what reasons the present cessation of
hostilities had been secured, he had no way of knowing. Of only one thing he
was certain, and it thrilled him to the core of his being. He was going home.
The gears of destiny were grinding, slowly but surely, with the thoughts and
wishes of multitudes of people passing one another by, sometimes tenderly,
sometimes heartlessly.
But his destiny is about to change dramatically and his life will never be the
same again...

My purpose for this guide: To make sure that you are able to get a perfect

game, meaning that you can find all items, recruit all of the characters, and
see all there is to see. To sum it up; I will leave no stone unturned, meaning
that there will be spoilers, so beware.
For this guide, I have decided to do a direct walkthrough, which walks you
through the whole game step-by-step, leading you to the locations of all of
the items in the game, the mini-games, recruiting the 108 Stars of Destiny,
and any/all side-quests. It won't be an extensive FAQ, so don't expect to find
item and armor lists or shop prices. There are FAQs at www.gamefaqs.com that
either specialize in this, or are listed in other FAQs like this one.
For anything related to Suikoden, I strongly recommend going to
www.suikosource.com. There, you will find information related to all Suikoden
games, as well as several guides for this game, including a Bestiary, Runes
List, Armor List, and several others! Please go there to find anything that
may not be in this guide!

"There has been a lot of debates about them and I tested many hours how to
recruit them fast. You don't have to battle at all. While a free slot is
required, the squirrel joins outside of battles. I'm 100% sure of this.
Actually, the game checks a regular intervals (I believe it is every X minutes
- this is what I am not sure of) every party slot. You'll increase your chance
even more by traveling alone. Plus, you can stand still for that in the
required area. The squirrel joins as soon as you make one more step
afterwards. I tested this once on the PSOne, stand for over 30 minutes at the
same spot (last squirrel), checked the menu ... nothing, made one step, heard
a short loading sound, therefore checked the menu again and ... it was there.
Many people do a lot of battles, which can be very time consuming especially
for the last squirrel. But it is so easy: Wait in the required area, leave
your game alone for some time, make one step and check your party :) If you
want to travel anyway (perhaps the game checks more often then ..?), be sure
to bring Champion's Rune and True Holy Rune along to speed things up a lot!"
It may take a bit of time to do this, so be patient.
