UNITED NATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY (UNGA) 2013

1.

INTRODUCTION
The United Nations General Assembly or UNGA is one of the six principal

organs of the United Nations and the only one in which all member nations have
equal representation. Its powers are to oversee the budget of the United Nations,
appoint the non-permanent members to the Security Council, receive reports from
other parts of the United Nations and make recommendations in the form of General
Assembly Resolutions.
UNGA is listed as one of the programmes that needs to be carried out in all
MRSMs as outlined by the English Every Day Programme (EEDP) Handbook.

It is

replicated at a small scale by the students so that they are exposed to the different
countries and the cultures in the world. Apart from that, the students are made
aware to the global current affairs. On the other hand, it is also an opportunity for
students to do research on countries where they might go to further their studies
after the SPM examination. This programme is divided into three parts, namely, the
booth presentation, the Parade of Nations and the cultural show.
2.
