EXPERIENCE

UC Davis Green Transportation Laboratory, Davis, CA

9/10-12/15 (planned)
Graduate Student Researcher
Lithium-ion thermal management:
Develop test systems and physics inspired test methods for battery model parameterization
for the purpose of performing vehicle simulation design analysis and battery management
estimation algorithms. Thermal system modeling for heat exchanger design optimization
and thermal system control strategy development for pack lifetime extension.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ride, TN
5/14-12/14
Graduate Student Intern
Developed battery model parameterization code. Developed multi-dimensional thermalelectrochemical models in the ORNL VIBE battery simulation code. This work is a direct
collaboration with my PhD research.
Totus Power, Inc., Chicago, IL
Lead Engineer

9/13-12/14

Responsible for the design and fabrication of the first prototype ever built for Totus Power.
Created the system architecture for their battery backup system. Created a CAD model of
the entire system for packaging and manufacturability analysis. Created a test version for
concept validation. Fabricated their first field-testable prototype used for customer analysis
in India.
Kleenspeed Technologies, Inc., Mountain View, CA
6/10-12/12
Lead Engineer
Led the product development efforts of the company by creating a scalable and modular
lithium-ion battery pack for vehicle and stationary applications that was used to power a
running prototype vehicle for investors, sales, and conference demos. The technology developed resulted in five provisional patent applications. Images of work.

UC Davis Formula Hybrid SAE, Davis, CA

9/09-6/11
Team Lead
Designed, built and tested two open wheel hybrid electric racing vehicles (FH1 and FH2) for
two separate competitions. Invited to two additional competitions. Images of work.
May 2010: Placed 3rd out of 30 universities. (FH1)
June 2010: Placed 2nd out of 4 universities. (FH1)
May 2011: Placed 4th out of 30 universities. (FH2)
May 2011: Placed 1st out of 7 universities. (FH2)
Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore, CA
1/08-8/08
Student Engineering Intern
Aided in the experimental and general lab duties for the study of Palladium nanoparticles to
understand their usefulness for electrical energy and hydrogen storage.
Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore, CA
Student Engineering Intern
6/07-1/08
Aided in the fabrication of a hydrogen refueling station built for General Motors to study its
use for vehicle applications.
