SIGTRAN Software Modules The Adax Protocol Software (APS) SIGTRAN suite has been designed for Convergence , Wireless and Intelligent Networks. These protocols can be used to build Softswitches, Signaling Gateways or Media G ateway Controllers in the VoIP domain. SCTP SCTP (Stream Control Transport Protocol) is defined by IETF RFC2960 as the trans port layer to carry signaling messages over IP networks. Adax SCTP/T is compliant with IETF RFC2960 and RFC3309 and is implemented in th e OS kernel to provide a transport signaling framework for IP networks that enhances the speed and capability of SSCS/HSL and can be deplo yed over T1/E1, Ethernet and ATM OC3 physical media interfaces. M2PA M2PA is designed to transport SS7 MTP-3 signaling messages over IP using the ser vices of Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) and uses any underlying high-speed data transmission technology (ATM, T1/E1, wir eless etc.) to build next generation SS7 networks over IP. The immediate benefits of this is that current upper layer SS7 applications can run on new high-speed IP signaling networks without software change, maximizing performance of the solution without increasing costs and protecting t he investment in the application. M2UA Defined by RFC 3331 M2UA is a protocol for the backhauling of SS7 MTP3 messages over an IP network and is used between a Signaling Gateway (SG) and a Media Gateway Controller (MGC) in VoIP networks. M2UA provides an interfac e between MTP3 and SCTP that enables MTP3 applications to transparently operate over an underlying transport service of SCTP and IP inste ad of MTP2. This interface provides transparent connectivity between traditional circuit switched SS7 signaling points and Next Generation, IP-enabled signaling elements, such as a SoftSwitch or Media Gateway Controller. Adax provides an M2UA product that can be used in an ASP or SGP role M3UA M3UA is designed to transport SS7 MTP-3 signaling stacks over an IP Network and provides a seamless operation of MTP-3 User peers (ISUP, SCCP, TCAP and TUP) in both SS7 and IP domains. In an all IP network it operates in a point to poin t configuration, known as an IPSP (IP Signaling Point). Specifically M3UA is use d for interworking packet switched and circuit switched networks at the Signaling Gateway or Softswitch. Using M3UA, Signaling Gateways can be configured to func tion as an SS7 SEP (Signaling End Point) or STP (Signaling Transfer Point). Because of its inbuilt flexibility M3UA has been adopted by the 3G consortium as the sta ndard for carrying SS7 over IP in 3G networks. Adax offers an M3UA product that can b e used in an ASP or SGP role.
