A comparative study between electronic and print media:
Proposed Title:
Effectiveness on disseminating information to USTS Department
____________________________________________________________________
of Pharmacy
Introduction:
(3-5 paragraphs, not more than 1 page)
Throughout history, communication has been mans primary approach in expressing
ideas and information. From the customary word of mouth, it has evolved into
different forms of media which we widely use today. Media are the collective
channels used to transmit, store and deliver information or data. In the recent
years, the prime form of exchanging messages or information, known as
dissemination, is through print. The evolution of internet and World Wide Web has
transformed the whole globe and present a new way of communication. The major
types of media today are print media and electronic media. Both are essential in
promulgating information needed in the success of adult education and learning
programs.
Print media contains materials involved in printing and distributing media through
publications such as newspapers, bulletin boards, tarpaulins, etc. The more
advanced form of media uses a device that stores and allows circulation or use of
computerized information called electronic media. This includes television, radio,
internet and SMS to name a few.
The media has built a reputation for its negative effects, but it could in fact improve
different aspects of school system, such as creating a university portal and in
information dissemination.
Significance of the Study:
(2-3 paragraphs)
Knowing the information dissemination mechanisms between print media and
electronic media provides an efficient distribution scheme for updates. Assessment
of the two kinds of media seeks to improve the efficiency of information
dissemination for the purpose of receiving timely response from students in times of

emergencies like sudden meetings or make up classes. The dissemination

characteristics are to be studied to determine which media would be most
comprehensive in delivering information under different situations.
The results gathered in the study will be essential in planning ways to reduce time
loss, and misapplication of resources in future important announcements. They will
also minimize the maintenance and distribution costs of media that is often
neglected. The results of this research are useful in the development of a
comprehensive information dissemination system to transmit information in an
effective way.
Major Problem: Which media disseminates information to pharmacy students
more effectively?
Sub-Problems:
1. Which of the different information areas under electronic media is the most
effective?
2. Which of the different information areas under print media is the most effective?
3. Reasons why printed media or electronic media is more effectively in
disseminating information.
Objectives of the Study:
General: To promulgate awareness on the advantages of specific media for
efficient information dissemination.

Specific: To determine which type of media would have comprehensive

dissemination capabilities under various circumstances.
