seenonyournetworkbythecomputer.ToverifytheHPPrinter's
IPAddress,seeprintthePrinter'sConfigurationpage.LookfortheLANHWADDRESS
orIPADDRESSvalue.Thisnumberistheprinter'sTCP/IPaddress.
2. Youwillneedtoobtaintheprinterdriverforthedevice.ThismaybeonaCD.You
shouldalsobeabletodownloadthedriverfromthemanufacturer'swebsite.

VerifythatyoucanPINGthedevice
1. ClickStartandchooseRun.
2. IntheOpen:box,removeanyexistingtext.ThenenterCMD.ClickOK.
3. Atthefollowingprompt,typePINGpressthespacebar,entertheIPAddress,andthen
pressENTER.Herearetwoexamples

2. UnderPrinterTasks,clickAddaPrinter.ClickNext.
3. SelecttheLocalPrinterattachedtothiscomputerradiobutton.
4. UnchecktheAutomaticallydetectandinstallmyPlugandPlayprintercheckbox.
5. ClickNext.
6. SelecttheCreateNewPortradiobutton.
7. FromtheTypeofport:dropdownlistchooseStandardTCP/IPPort.ClickNext.Click

Note:Youwillnowbepromptedfor2items:thePrinterNameorIPAddressandthe
PortName.The1stitemistheStaticIPaddressthathasbeenassignedtothedevice.
The2nditemmaybeeditedbyyouorleftalone.
8. InthePrinterNameorIPAddressbox,entertheIPAddressofthedevice.
9. InthePortNamebox,youmayleavethedefaultoredit.Ex:Portnamescan'thave
spaces.Theyshouldbeshortbutdescriptive.
10. ClickNext.ClickFinish.
11. IfStep10completedsuccessfully,youarenowreadytoinstallthedriver.
12. Chooseyourdriver.ClickNext.
Note:Ifyouarepromptedtoreplaceorkeepexistingdriver,clickonKeepExisting

13. EditthePrinterNameifneeded.
14. Ifyouwantthistobethedefaultprinter,clickYes.Ifnot,clickNo.ThenclickNext.
15. SelecttheDonotsharethisprinterradiobutton.ClickNext.
16. LeavethePrintatestpage(recommended)buttonchecked.ClickFinish.
17. WhenaskediftheTestPageprintedcorrectly,clickYes.Atthispoint,youshouldhave
thedevicelistedinthePrintersandFaxesfolder.Youcanattempttouseitasaprinter.
YoucanRightClickontheDeviceNameandchooseProperties.Lookthroughthesettingsto
seeifitisconfiguredcorrectly.LookforanDeviceSettingsorConfiguretab.Youmayneed
toinstallanextratray.ThenEnableit.YoumayalsowanttolookattheAdvancedtabfor

otherPrintingDefaults.
Itispossibletocreatemorethanone"printer"thatwillprinttothesamedevice.Youwould
dothisinordertouseadifferentDRIVER(seestep8above).Separatedriversallowyouto
differentoptions.Example:thePSorPostscriptdriverwillallowyouto'scale'theprintjob
(printat150%)whereasaPCL6driverwon'tallowthisoption.
YoucanalsoupdatethePrintDriverforanalreadyinstalledprinter.Youneedtohaveaccess
totheotherdriverwhenyoureachstep4.
1. InthePrintersandFaxesfolder,RightClickthedesiredPrinterandchooseProperties.
2. ClicktheAdvancedtab.
3. ClickNewDriver.ClickNext.
4. Ifyoucan,selectanewdriverfromthebuiltinlistandclickNext...OR...clickHave
Disk.Locatethefolderwiththenewdriverandpickthe.INFfileinthatfolderandclick
