Measurement Units The units of measurement indicated in the dacuments issued for the activities in question are normally those specified in the Project Specifications. It these documents do not prescribe any Unit of measurement, the applicable Standard in compliance with interational standardisation (SI) issued in the country where the project to be implemented shall be used 13. The main characteristic of jacketed piping is that heating must be ensured throughout the circutt This involves the necessity to subdivide the external pipe (jacket) into spools that permit, continuous circulation of steam without build-up of unacceptable levels of condensate. Disassembly and maintenance of vaives, control valves, etc. shall also be made possible. 2.1.3. In an ideal installation, the length of the various spools of the jacket shall not exceed 10-12 m approximately. For rectilinear portions only, itis allowed to subdivide the pipes into lengths of max. 20 m. In the case of jacketed piping having rectilinear portions longer than 20 m, the spools shall be connected by means of by-pass (each spool shal be provided with drain). 2.1.4. If the internal piping conveys process fluids that require periodic cleaning by pigging, the elbows and intersections shall be made as disassemblable components (see Figures 5 and 6). 2.1.5. The thickness of intemal piping subjected to vacuum, or piping that conveys fluids which may be at lower pressures than the heating steam pressure, must be calculated taking into account the provision of Design Practice PRG.IP.MEC.0008 (para. 4.1.1.5.) 2.1.6. Depending on design requirements (shut-down, guarantees, etc.), the heating steam may be taken from the utities distribution header (which is used to feed the various users of the plant unit) of from an additional header (which in this case would also be used for steam tracing). The sizing will be made by the competent Technological Department, as specified in Design Practice PRG.TP.STT.1008 (para. 33.8. and 3.3.9.) Form cace: MDT GG OUACS8 Sh. During the Review phase, the jacketed piping shall aways be submitted to the competent Technological Department for the appropriate functional checks. In the case of long vertical pipes, itis tecommended to provide a sub-heater to convey the steam to the highest point of the jacketed pipe and to serve the users on the way down, so that the steam outlet is always higher than each user. Documents Produced isometric Drawings - Isometric drawings are obtained from a transparent copy of the isometric drawing of the piping to be jacketed, to which the jacket and the material list are added manually, to a sufficient detail to permit shop fabrication and, together with erection drawings, assembly on site (see Figures 1 and 2), Biping Arrangement Drawings: Piping Arrangement Drawings for aboveground piping shall be completed with all information en Jacketed piping, with top views, elevation or isometric views. These drawings together with isometric drawings provide the necessary information for erection on site. ‘The information to be Included in the documents is shown in Figures 1 through 10 and in Design Practice PRG.TB.IMP.0001 ‘The aspects related to verifications are covered by Design Practice PRG.T8.IMP.0118. Materials Selection All piping components for the line to be heated shall be selected in accordance with the fespective P&l D's and Piping Classes. ‘The materials to be used for the heating jacket are specified in the Piping Class indicated on the Pal. 2 Fe cose: CRIOESBE,DOT CONFIDENTIAL cocument Sole grove’ of Snamproget, Not {0}e shown lo Tate pas oF use for purposes cine han nak fo" wre nas Deen sent Data fe PRG 007E.DOS Rev. 0 Dale Aug. 1994 Sheet 6 21) 23.3.
