INTEGRATED

Evaluating typical safety circuits from sensing through evaluation up to

shutdown is now easier than ever before: With our new SIRIUS 3TK2826 safety
relays. This device simultaneously monitors all of the sensor and actuator
functions and ensures that outputs are shut down in a safety-relevant fashion.
Up to eight parameters can be configured. This is what makes this device
convincing in every safety application as flexible all-rounder in a compact
design.

Application example

24 V DC
START

SIRIUS 3TK2826 safety relays have two terminals for the sensors: The
cascading input CAS/OS as sensor input S1. The following components
can be connected at the sensor input:

Sensors with contacts, e.g. EMERGENCY STOP or position switches

Electronic sensors, e.g. light grids and light barriers
Contact mats
Magnetically operated switches, NC/NC or NC/NO
The cascading input can be ANDed with other safety relays or to control
the device from a machine control system.
If a potentially hazardous situation occurs, four relay contact enable circuits
(EC) shut down the device. The signaling circuits (SC) provide information
about the state of the connected I/O with reference to:
Status of the enable circuit (relay signaling circuit, NC contact)

Configuration using a DIP switch

Feedback circuit fault (electronic signaling circuit)

The maximum of eight parameters that are included in SIRIUS 3TK2826

safety relays can be set using a DIP switch at the front of the device. The
status of the connected sensors and actuators can always be seen on the
LEDs at the front and the signaling outputs. When a fault condition develops,
the LED display allows a first diagnostics to be made.

Sensor status (electronic signaling circuit)

3TK2826 relays are suitable for the following applications:
Up to Category 4 according to EN 954-1
Up to SIL 3 according to IEC 61508

ON
Without cross-circuit fault detection
1 NC + 1 NO evaluation
2 x 1 channel
Debounce time for sensor inputs, 50 ms
Sensor input, auto start
Cascading input, auto start
With testing at start
Automatic start after power failure

Higher benefits by even more convincing features and

characteristics
Can be used worldwide thanks to the international certification
Can be universally used in all safety applications as its terminals
are compatible with all of the usual sensor types
Sensor and actuator states can be identified at the device using
the integrated status displays

Cascading input, monitored start

availability through expanded diagnostic capability

Cross-circuit
fault detection

For a 2-channel connection (1 x 2 channel) this ensures that the sensor

cables of the two channels do not have a cross-circuit fault.

For Cat. 2 according to EN 954-1, only one contactor is required

in the shutdown circuit as the shutdown fault in the actuator circuit
is automatically signaled

Evaluation

In addition to equivalent sensor contacts connected through 2 channels

(2 NO contacts), sensors with non-equivalent contacts (1 NC / 1 NO contact)
can be used.

Electrical isolation and high current load capacity using electrically

isolated outputs

Connection type

Either 1 sensor with 2 contacts (1 x 2 channel) as well as 2 sensors each

with one contact (2 x 1 channel) can be connected. In the case of 2 x 1
channel, both sensors are "ANDed".

Debounce time

The sensor signal is ignored during the debounce time.

50 ms sensor time: The bounce of mechanical sensors is suppressed
(e.g. position switches mounted on heavy protective doors).
10 ms sensor time: The shorter debounce time permits faster shutdown
for sensors that have no bounce (e.g. light barriers).

Start type
sensor input

Auto start: The enable circuits are switched in as soon as the sensors issue
an OK signal to the sensor inputs.
Monitored start: The enable circuits are switched in as soon as the sensors
issue an OK signal to the sensor inputs and an ON signal is present.

Start type
cascading input

The cascading input can either be configured as an automatic or monitored

start.

Test when
starting

The test when starting demands that the machine operator presses the
sensor once after a power failure.

Start after
power failure

The enable circuits are automatically switched in once after the line supply
voltage returns (only for monitored start).

Few versions, low stocking costs, flexible and versatile use thanks
to the wide-voltage range of the power supply section in the 3TK2826
and the fact that many functions are integrated in just one device
