Quite a few new products have been
developed. A family of panels in a with of
1.2 m has now joined the existing family
of panels in a width of 1.0 m. Vertical
facade system with hidden fixing has
been added to the existing horizontal
facades without any visible fixing elements. The well-established solution of
rounded corner has been supplemented
by a novelty in form of a sharp edged
corner element. By these two elements

you imagine what facilities TRIMO would

MERKUR NOVOTEHNA vision and reality
of new facilities
Harmonisation of the project and technical problems with the vision that
has slowly appeared from the sub-consciousness and helped creating
completed, final whole of a facility has always been an exciting event.
project differs from a project, it is
new experience, with abundant
and versatile challenges that influence the abstract character of the
creation; and this is mostly a wellknown, well-trod path, manageable by
skills and talent of a designer.
Sometimes we have to admit that a project or task is surprising since it is influenced by many given conditions and
phenomena as well as cruel reality,
that is in greater collision with itself
than architects would be willing to
admit. This is also the characteristic of
Merkurs shopping centre Mojster in
Krko.
Future project with a prosaic programme: sale of technical goods, products of black and non-ferrous metallurgy and construction material; with an
enormous outdoor storage platform.

But the shopping centre is relatively

small: 85.0 x 22.50 x 7.10 m and
already at the beginning destined to
have an AB pre-fabricated construction, closed by a light facade membrane. The centre will fill a building
plot in the vicinity of a series of business buildings in the newly emerging
centre of Krko. The planned building
along the road by facilities of high
quality in terms of design has required
mutual relations: respect of the existing
and new.
Joining of a foreign facility to the
building character in terms of programme? Luckily, there is an investor,
who is aware that a facility is not only
a stack of square bricks that are sold. It
allows a distance to the complete project and somewhat a more complex
approach of the designer.
With respect to the facts mentioned
Trimo facade has been selected for the
concept defined in advance from the
existing material. Usually, such facade
is intended for large, monolithdesigned facilities in neutral locations.
It is offered to be selected since its
sophisticated profile of the surface,
colour and polished details enable relatively free design.
The project mentioned is an experiment
of visualisation of the facts stated above:
integration of the entrance portal in the
facility, emphasis of vertical discharge
outlets has been subordinated to the simplicity of the facade; soft, elliptical
facade openings look for a contact with
life on a pavement and co-existence with
other buildings on the road.

CENTRE OLYMPIA luxurious shopping
and entertainment
Olympia is the first entertainment and shopping centre that greatly
differs in its architecture from the existing competitive projects
intended for fun and shopping in the Czech Republic.
entre Olympia is located 5 km south
from the centre of Brno, in the vicinity of the motorway exit. Shopping
and entertainment in luxurious environment are offered to visitors all seven days
a week.

The basic idea of the centre is to create

an outstanding and comfortable place
that influences visitors with its positive
energy and offers them unique experience. The Centre represents a complex
where 88 shops, 14 restaurants and coffee shops, multi cinema with sixteen theatres, hypermarket and childrens corner,
service and technical departments are
located on a surface of 44.000 m2.
Steel load-bearing construction has been
used for the Centre base; roof construc-

tion is made of garland supports representing an important element of the interior and the total complex. Roofs that are

designed in an extremely interesting way

play a special role in the facility. The construction consists of Trimoterm roof system
that is interwoven with glass. Together
they form a well-rounded and harmonised unit. Dynamic overflowing of sky
blue with glass is in contrast with pure
white of the facade system Trimoterm.
Homogenous facade is laid horizontally.
At night the light game is very attractive.
The Centre is illuminated and lighted by
blue reflectors that create miraculous
atmosphere of night entertainment.

WITH HIDDEN FASTENING
A wish to offer something more has been shared with all commercial companies and producers of construction elements. On the other hand requirements
of the market increase, above all in the area of architectural effects and aesthetics.

has been enriched by a new variety
- panel with hidden fastening. It is a
novelty also on the European market,
where panels with hidden fastening and
a core made of uninflammable rock wool
have not appeared yet. The existing and
well-established horizontal facades without any visible fixing elements have been
supplemented by a facade system that
enables vertical panel orientation. The
facade system joins aesthetic perfection
of excellent technical characteristics such
as fire-resistance, thermal insulation, airtightness, ... Simplicity and fast erection
certainly stand out among the qualities.

Panels and the fixing place on the edge

have been designed to enable fixing by
the use of supporting element made of
stainless steel. The dimensions of this element have been optimised to power that
appears on a fixing spot and characteristics of the panels alone. The bottom edge
of the neighbouring panels is made to
cover the fixing spots. It also tightly joins
sheet metal and wool in the core with the
neighbouring panel.
External surface of panels can be made
in a micro-lined or standard variety. The
internal surface is of standard performance, in v profile or smooth sheet
metal.
Trimoterm panels with a method of hidden fixing are the result of development in
TRIMO with the aim to create as many
solutions as possible. Combinations with
various finishing elements, materials and
decorative details offer abundant possibilities for individual appearance and
recognisable character of facilities.

NEW SOLUTIONS FOR FACADE
CORNER CONSTRUCTION
The rounded corner has already established well on the market. Now
Trimo has expanded its product range by sharp-edged corner.
Corner ending, either sharp-edged or rounded, can be manufactured
in all thickness types and varieties as FTV facade panels. Horizontal
laying specially emphasizes its architecture. The horizontal line is
thereby preserved along the complete scope of the building. An aluminium strip is fixed to the vertical panel closing.

Where and what are the origins of strategic directions to invest the
complete potential and capital in technological modernisation of

planning of objectives and visions, which are to be followed since
they mean existence, cost-effectiveness and justification in relation
to capital owners. All these are terms of economics and technical

of science for the achievement of the objectives set.

By the construction of the facility in Izola
Droga Portoro made its strategic-development objective true. The facility combines all business functions in one place,

have answered the requirements of the
food-processing industry. The company
has participated in the construction of all
facilities of the new Droga complex. The
facility of meat programme, coffee and
tea facility, production technical and

power supply facilities, waste-water purification plant, administration building, storage silos, are the facilities for which Trimo
has designed, manufactured and assembled the steel constructions, roof and
facade fire-resistant panels and fire-resistant rows of windows.

MERCATOR SARAJEVO
- also a time record
Trend in construction of large shopping centres is evident in maximal
shortening of time between the final decision-making about the construction and beginning of facility operation, which is completely
understandable from the economic aspect. For large international
commercial chains, to which Mercator has recently joined, quality
and price are of exceptional importance as well as speed of construction since the investment starts paying off very fast.
esides aesthetic qualities and its size the
project Mercator Sarajevo has been
exceptional also in terms of time. Trimo
system of pre-fabricated construction enables
construction in short time, but we have never
built a construction in such short time as the
shopping centre Mercator in Sarajevo.
When discussions about the project started in
spring of the year 2000 the wish of the
investor was clear that the facilities should be
operating before happy December begins
since it marks the peak of shopping season.
This has practically meant that there were
less than three months between the contract
signing and completion of works on the steel
constriction and facade (3 May 2000 - 1
August 2000).

And how did we succeed? Besides standard activities and project management
tools we had to introduce overlapping of
parallel activities to an even greater
extent than usually. Simultaneously, designing of the conceptual architectural
project, static and installations was in
progress in various locations, also
abroad and in co-operation with various
partners. Such working method has
required urgent application of the most
modern information technologies, compatible computer software, fast and accurate transfer of information and complex
co-ordination. One of the key elements
that enabled successful completion of the
project in the schedule determined was

the ultimate and newest technology of

design and manufacture of steel constructions in which Trimo has heavily invested
in recent years. Their mutual direct on-line
operation enabled the plans to be transferred from designer desks to production
and then to the building site in the shortest time possible. Until now the project
Mercator Sarajevo has been the largest
project performed by means of modern
technology and it is a final proof that the
investment in new technology has been
correct.
Over a million kg of steel construction
and 13.000m2 of panels with adequate
plumbing elements were designed, manufactured, transported and assembled for
the shopping centre Mercator Sarajevo.
The facilities were built in the schedule
determined by the contract and a festive
opening ceremony of the shopping centre
Mercator Sarajevo took place in the presence of the President of the Republic of
Slovenia Milan Kuan and several members of the economic delegation from
Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina
on 1 December 2000 as it had been
planned.
