Maintaining a strong local economy is important to everyone in Clark and surrounding counties. Strong
local businesses provide employment opportunities, convenient services, and support for a wide variety
of community activities. When local businesses are lost, so is support for Little League, parades and other
community events.
The trend today, especially in retail industries, is to have bigger companies covering larger territories and
sometimes driving smaller local competitors out of business. A recent example of this trend affected Chili
Implement, a Case IH dealership in Chili, WI. Chili Implement has been the local dealer for International
Harvester and Case IH farm equipment in Clark County since 1956. In addition to selling equipment, Chili
Implement also provides parts and service accessibility for the Case IH line in Clark County and employs 15
to 20 employees including highly skilled technicians. These are good paying full-time jobs in our community.
In early 2012, CNH America (manufacturer of Case IH farm equipment)
made an attempt to terminate the Case IH equipment franchise of Chili
Implement. CNH believed that even though profitable, Chili Implements
sales did not warrant continuing the dealership. CNH believed
Chilis territory could be served by larger multi store dealerships in surrounding counties. Chili countered that it is
financially viable and provides local services that dealers
in other counties may not.
After a two week trial in February 2014, a Clark County
jury agreed with Chili Implement. Just because it is a
small town single location dealership, termination of its
dealership agreement was not warranted. Based on the verdict, the Circuit Court granted an injunction stopping the planned termination. CNH has appealed the verdict to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
Chili Implement remains a Case IH dealer today, but its situation is a lesson for the entire community.
To maintain good honest local businesses, the public has to support them. While its quite possible that a
distant mega-dealer may still provide parts and service, how far are people willing to travel for that service?
Manufacturers sometimes measure dealer performance on sales and other metrics rather than the customer
satisfaction that results from service, convenience and most importantly community support.
Chili Implement was fortunate to have a jury that understood its position and allowed it to continue its business, to continue providing service to the people of Clark County and to maintain jobs in the local community.
Chili Implement thanks the jury for its decision, and most importantly, thanks its customers and others in
the local area for the support provided over the past 59 years. Chili Implement is proud to continue to represent the Case IH line of farm equipment and to be your local dealer. We encourage everyone to support their
locally owned businesses so others are not faced with similar issues, and to maintain the economic health of
Clark County and surrounding counties.

Who is invited? All children birth to 5 years
of age in the Abbotsford School District. If your
child is already attending 4-year-old Kindergarten, they do not need to attend this event.
What is Child Development Day? A child
is observed during play activities to identify
his or her developmental skills in the areas
of speech and language, cognitive abilities,
adaptive, personal-social and motor skills.
Each screening will be about 30-45 minutes.
Many local businesses and support programs
will have booths with information available. Your child will also have the
opportunity to have their hearing and vision screened and an identification card made with photo and fingerprints. With participation, each child
receives a goodie bag and complimentary snacks and refreshments.
Why Screen? Learning begins at birth! The early years are critical in a
childs overall development. This screening offers parents an opportunity
to talk about their childs development and any concerns they may have
with a qualified professional. After the screening, the results will be discussed and any questions or concerns will be addressed.

Specialist starting April 1, 2015. This is a 52-week position with

Coordinates, installs, and maintains the efficient and effective
functioning of the computer servers, hardware, software,
peripheral and network systems and provides user training and
support for administrative and instructional applications

to create and manage department level budgets.
