Saint John Energy East Partners Forum Members

Apply to National Energy Board for Intervener Status

March 4, 2015 (Saint John, NB) Members of the Saint John Energy East Partners Forum have
submitted Applications to Participate (ATP) as interveners with the National Energy Boards
(NEB) review of the Energy East Pipeline Project.

Our Forum supports Energy East for the incredible benefits it would bring our region, but we
still have a role to play advocating for our community and province, to ensure that the project
develops in our collective best interests, said Cynthia Goodwin, Chair of the Energy East
Partners Forum and President of Revolution Strategy. Over the past 18 months, we have been
impressed by how proactive and responsive Energy East proponents TransCanada and Irving Oil
have been in their community engagement efforts and diligence with project development
overall. This NEB process gives us the added opportunity to express the importance of key issues
for New Brunswickers, such as environmental stewardship and public safety, while still showing
our support for the project.

The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce has convened a task force to assist with its role in
the intervention process, if accepted.

Energy East would mean hundreds of new jobs and billions of dollars in economic growth for
New Brunswick, so its crucial that we come together at this important stage to show our
collective support for the project, said Steve Carson, CEO of Enterprise Saint John.

The City of Saint John and Port Saint John have also submitted applications, in adherence to the
NEBs March 3 deadline.

Organizations that receive intervener status may be required to file evidence in support of their
views, answer questions in support of the evidence they file, participate in oral hearings and
provide input on possible conditions on the project, among other responsibilities.

TransCanada submitted its formal Energy East project application to the NEB on October 30,
2014. Once the NEB determines that the project application is complete, a hearing order will be
issued, along with a calendar of events and a list of participants.

hearing process, visit: http://www.neb-one.gc.ca/pplctnflng/mjrpp/nrgyst/index-eng.html#s3.
