The current metrological system based on Law No. 2/1981

and defines the role of production and distribution of goods
and measuring system

The second basic document is Decree No. 2/1989 which

regulates Indonesia National Standard of Measurement Unit

 GENERAL SITUATION IN INDONESIA
• Despite of the existence of accreditation (nearly
300 testing laboratories in the field of chemical
analysis have been accredited in Indonesia) and
proficiency testing schemes, the use of CRMs is
far from widespread.
• Laboratories trying to acquire CRMs for method
validation and for analytical quality assurance
purposes will find a hard facts that access to
international market or commercial producers
are difficult and therefore high costs are
encountered.

• At present only laboratories having access to
international market and ready to pay for
relatively high costs are using CRMs in regular
basis.
• For examples are petroleum products, coal
testing laboratories, but not yet foods,
environmental (except very few ones), clinical
testing laboratories, etc.
• Many small and remote medium sized
laboratories are out of question.

• Some other laboratories are using other types of
reference materials such as spiked samples,
spiked blanks, reference materials having
consensus values from a proficiency testing
scheme for the analytical quality assurance of
their test results.
• Despite of the facts, however, concerns for using
CRMs are gradually growing now and this
should be well anticipated by regulatory bodies
and relevant parties concerned.
