The IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications, IEEE

MeMeA 2014, will be held at ISCTE-IUL, the Lisbon University Institute, in the n
orthern part of Lisbon in Cidade Universitria (University Campus) together with t
he main Faculties of Lisbon University. The 2014 edition of the Symposium will b
ring together practitioners and researchers from diverse fields to exchange idea
s and information, make connections and collaborations, and update current and f
uture innovation on health care systems. Discussions will address open issues in
terms of concepts, research, standards, implementations, running experiments, a
nd applications for diagnosis and treatment that improve customization to identi
fy key changes in health status. The theme of the 2014 edition is Beyond Medical
Measurements .

Interfaces and Interaction
Assistive Technology
Authors are invited to submit preliminary version papers (4-6 pages) reporting o
riginal research of theoretical or applied nature that encompasses researches an
d results on design and implementation of health monitoring and health care dev
ices and applications, telecommunications, computer-based decision support, mult
i-variable simulation tools, data intensive engineering, information communicati
on technology, accuracy and efficiency of measurement devices and process execut
ion in health care systems. The preliminary version papers will be accepted base
d on a peer review process. The review can result in revision requests that must
be mandatory fulfilled to have the paper accepted in the symposium proceedings.
The submission should explain the significance of the contribution, results par
t and contain a list of key references. The manuscripts must be prepared in Engl
ish according to guidelines provided on the MeMeA 2014 website (http://memea2014
.ieee-ims.org/).
All accepted and presented papers from the Symposium will be published in the Sy
mposium Proceedings and via IEEE Xplore. An accepted paper will be published in
the proceedings only if the full-fee registration payment for one of the authors
is received and correctly processed.
Special session, dedicated to case-studies and commercial presentations, as well
as technical tutorials, dedicated to technical/scientific topics, are also envi
saged: companies interested in presenting their products/methodologies or resear
chers interested in presenting a demo or lecturing a tutorial are invited to con
tact the conference secretariat.
SPECIAL ISSUE OF IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INSTRUMENTATION AND MEASUREMENT:
A special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM) wi
ll be published. It will contain papers selected on the basis of the results of
regular peer review of the manuscripts. Each manuscript has to meet the scope of
the TIM and be based on a paper published in the symposium proceedings and pres
ented. However, the manuscript must be significantly extended beyond the scope o
f the proceedings paper in terms of the overall technical content and research r
esults.
