Translation Project M001-20

Self-Reflective Report
Prepared by:

Project Description:
Translation from English into Bulgarian of a Machine manual, entitled
The iNfinity and iLife App Manual for a doctor-homoeopath.
The Order:
- The contact person is the customer. He is well-acquainted with the work of the main
translator in the company from previous freelance jobs that she has performed for him
personally. - The customer contacts the company with the translation request and
submits the original English text by email. - Upon receiving the order, the project
manager/translator evaluates the text difficulty and length and gets in contact with the
customer to propose a possible price and deadline for the completion of the translation. She
also informs the customer that the company can issue simplified invoices that do not include
VAT. - The price of 12 lv. per page is set accordingly for a specialized text and a regular (not
fast or express) order to be completed within 3 workdays. - The customer agrees to the
proposed price and expects the translation to be completed within the deadline. He also sends
the magazine company details for the issuance of the invoice. Payment is to be issued by bank.
He then receives the order reference number. - The sole translator on labor contract in the
company takes upon herself to translate the document. In this specific case, she can get in
touch with the customer for any additional clarification in case it is needed. - After the
translation is completed, the project manager selects an editor from the group which have
previously agreed to work for the company under civil contracts. In this case, the project
manager contacts three editors for the job and one of them accepts it. - The translated text is
then sent to the editor by email. The editor returns it in one clean version and one with tracked
changes. The editor prefers this method, compared to the less usual one where the document is
shared with the editor in Google Dox, where he and the translator can work simultaneously. After the changes are evaluated, the translation is ready to submit.
Again, the means of communication is email. The translation is
attached to the project summary, including the total number of pages,
total price and bank account details for the customer to issue the
payment. Attached to the email is also the pro forma invoice for the
service. - After the customer issues the payment, the project manager gets in
contact with him again in order to receive feedback. The customer is
satisfied with the translation and the entire service. He also engages
talks of further interaction with the company for future translation.
