New ABRA-LINE expansion joints from Garlock are available in ive

different models. Each features a proprietary urethane formula that provides excellent abrasion resistance to materials found in the power
generation, fertilizer production, mining and chemical processing
industries. The propriety urethane formula used in the ABRALINE series resists degradation in lue gas desulphurization
systems, phosphate mining, dry bulk powder transfer systems,
tailings, slurry applications and a wide range of abrasive environments. ABRA-LINE expansion joints can be ordered for
pipes up to 120 inches in diameter (up to 48 inches for Style 4394)
and designed in many different conigurations. Eight different cover material

Air cannons hammer away at
cement plant preheater buildup

Installing a network of air cannons eliminated buildup problems in the Nebraska plant precalciner of
a large American cement maker. Twenty-ive cannons iring a prescribed pattern of compressed-air
discharges remove material adhering to the vessel
walls. Material low improved, maintenance was
reduced and productivity gained. Downtime and the need for water-blasting which too
often caused material lumps to fall into the kiln feed are avoided. Read more on page 6.

and dispersing challenges for food and beverage processing. SPX has tested and enhanced the Cavitator design for
maximum performance. Named for the powerful effects of
shockwaves produced from the collapse of "controlled cavitation" bubbles, the APV Cavitator works by taking a luid into
the machine housing, where it is passed through a controlled
cavitation ield created by the reactor's spinning rotor. The design uses the force
of cavitation in a controlled manner to process materials, increasing the mass transfer rate.

100,000 gallons, with working pressures
from 50 to 200 psig. Available in carbon
steel, 316 and 304 stainless steel, Monel,
Hastelloy, titanium, Inconel and aluminum.
Pictured is a 5,000-gallon carbon steel
tank designed, fabricated and stamped for
100 psig. The interior is lined with an AWWA-approved lining for potable
