The Feasibility of Tuba-tuba (Jatropha curcas) used as liniment for

stomach ache

Introduction:
Nowadays, our country is facing a great crisis. Nobody can deny that our life is at
risk maybe because even our primary need is less given to us by our family. So the
researcher conducts a study about tuba-tuba used as liniment for stomach ache.
Jatropha curcas, Barbados nut or Physic nut is a perennial poisonous shrub
(normally up to 5 m highbelonging to the Euphorbiaceae or spurge family. It is an
uncultivated non-food wild-species.
The plant, originating in Central America [2], whereas it has been spread to other
tropical and subtropical countries as well [3] and is mainly grown in Asia and in
Africa, where it is known as Pourghre. It is used as a living fence to protect gardens
and fields from animals. [4]
It is resistant to a high degree of aridity and as such does not compete with food
crops.
The seeds contains 30% oil [5]that can be processed to produce a high-quality
biodiesel fuel, usable in a standard diesel engine.

Statement of the Problem:

- Is there any effect of the tuba-tuba used as liniment for stomach ache?
- Is there any substance in tuba-tuba that can cure stomach ache?
Hypothesis:
- There is an effect of the tuba-tuba as liniment for stomach ache.
- There is a substance in tuba-tuba that can cure stomach ache.
Scope and limitation:
This study is limited only in making a liniment out of tuba-tuba for stomach ache.
The researcher want to investigate if the tuba-tuba is effective for healing stomach
ache.
Significance of the study:

The researcher choose this study for the benifits of the poor people. This study may
help them by making an alternative source of a liniment for stomache ache. By this,
they can save money and this liniment will be affordable for their budget.
Definition of Terms:
Tuba-tuba or physic nut - it is a toxic plant ; it is found in a dryland. The roots are
reported to use as an antidote for snake bite.
Procedure:
* Gather some tuba-tuba leaves and wash them
* After washing, make fire for the tuba-tuba to be heated
* If fire is made, get the tuba-tuba and let the leaves heated for just a seconds
enough to be heated
*If the tuba-tuba is heated, you can get it
*After getting, get the extract of the heated leaves and massage the aching
stomach with the extract.

CHAPTER II
Review of Related Literature:
Jatropha is a genus of approximately 175 succulent plants, shrubs and trees (some
are deciduous, like Jatropha curcas L.), from the family Euphorbiaceae. Jatropha is
native to Central America [1], and has become naturalized in many tropical and
subtropical areas, including India, Africa, and North America. Originating in the
Caribbean, the jatropha was spread as a valuable hedge plant to Africa and Asia by
Portuguese traders. The mature small trees bear male and female inflorescence,
and do not grow very tall.
The hardy jatropha is resistant to drought and pests, and produces seeds containing
up to 40% oil. When the seeds are crushed and processed, the resulting oil can be
used in a standard diesel engine, while the residue can also be processed into
biomass to power electricity plants.[2]
Goldman Sachs recently cited Jatropha curcas as one of the best candidates for
future biodiesel production.[3] However, despite its abundance and use as an oil
and reclamation plant, none of the Jatropha species have been properly
domesticated and, as a result, its productivity is variable, and the long-term impact

of its large-scale use on soil quality and the environment is unknown. [1]
Currently the oil from Jatropha curcas seeds is used for making biodiesel fuel in
Philippines, promoted by a law authored by Philippine senators Miriam DefensorSantiago and Miguel Zubiri. Likewise, jatropha oil is being promoted as an easily
grown biofuel crop in hundreds of projects throughout India and other developing
countries. [1] [4] The rail line between Mumbai and Delhi is planted with Jatropha
and the train itself runs on 15-20% biodiesel. [1] In Africa, cultivation of jatropha is
being promoted and is grown successfully in countries such as Mali. [5]
Estimates of jatropha seed yield vary widely, due to a lack of research data, the
genetic diversity of the crop, the range of environments in which it is grown, and
jatropha's perennial life cycle. Seed yields under cultivation can range from 1,500 to
2,000 kilograms per hectare, corresponding to extractable oil yields of 540 to 680
liters per hectare.[6]
Jatropha can also be intercropped with other cash crops such as coffee, sugar, fruits
and vegetables.[7]
Other uses
Tea made from the leaf of certain species are reputed to be an aphrodisiac.
Toxicity
Its sap is a skin irritant, and ingesting three untreated seeds can kill a person. 2005
Western Australia banned the plant as invasive and highly toxic to people and
animals. [8]
CHAPTER III:
Methodology:
All the materials were gathered and prepared including tuba-tuba and bottle.

a- very satisfactory
b - satisfactory
c - needs improvement

According to the testimony given to me by the recipient, the extract of tuba-tuba is

a good product and can be used as liniment for those who are suffering stomach
ache. Hence, the product has a good texture and quality and odor.

CHAPTER V:
Conclusion :
The researcher therefore conclude that the tuba-tuba is a good product and can be
a good substitute for the leading brand. It has no harmful effects .
Recommendation:
I therefore recommend to everybody who is suffering in stomach ache, use the
tuba-tuba as liniment.
