Kualitas Briket Kulit Salak dengan Varisari Campuran Kulit Kelapa
Muda Terhadap Karakteristik Briket Ditinjau dari Variasi Waktu
Proses Pirolisis
Thesis Proposal
Briquette Quality of Bark Leather with Mixed Variation Of Young Coconut
Husk to Briquette Characteristics Judging from Time-Varying Pyrolysis Process
Slide 2
Background
Increasing of human population and industrial development resulted in
increased energy needs
the use of fossil fuels result in environmental pollution and fossil fuels are
finite
alternative energy required to overcome the energy crisis in the future.
Alternative energy can utilize organic waste
Palm fruits skin and coconut fiber can use as briquette charcoal. Briquette
charcoal is one variant of charcoals that have been processed as a pratical
product and economist, and use to alternative energy.
Problem Statement
how the influence of variations in the composition of the characteristics of
the briquettes
how long does the effect of variations in the characteristics of the pyrolysis
of the briquette
how the right composition to obtain the best quality
Slide 3
Purpose of the Researches
To determine the effect of variations in the composition of the characteristics
of the briquettes
To determine the effect of variations in the length of time the pyrolysis of the
characteristics of briquettes

To know the exact composition to obtain a good quality briquettes

Problem Limitation
The raw materials used for the manufacture of briquettes is skin of palm fruit
The raw material mixture using coconut fiber with variations 50:45 mixture;
55:40 and 30:65. The rest is used to increase the adhesive as much as 5%
Parameters to be tested are heating value, moisture, volatile matter, fixed
carbon and ash
Studying quality charcoal briquettes from skin of palm fruit with variation of
composition and time pyrolysis
Slide 4
Benefits of The Research
Helps reduce the waste generated by the bark leather making industry bark
chips
Reducing the waste generated by coco coconut ice merchants around
campus UII
Help overcome energy crisis petroleum fuel in the future
Increase the knowledge of the community to use bark peel waste as a source
of income
Slide 5
Bark
Bark (Salacca zalacca) is a fruit native to Indonesia. Bark has the physical
form of the fruit with brown skin color and skin scaly skin resembling a
snake, the snake bark called fruits
The development of industry with raw materials bark becomes waste
increases, because the fruit chips industry utilizing only the fruit. Therefore in
this study will utilize fruits as raw material for the manufacture of briquettes
Slide 6
Coconut fiber
Coco has the advantage to be used as ingredient in the manufacture of
briquettes as containing carbon that can be utilized as a source of energy or
fuel
Biobriket with a mixture of coconut coir has a high content of volatile matter
then biobriket more flammable so the faster the rate of combustion

For daily use as a fuel, with a mixture of coconut coir biobriket also have low
levels of pollution and the achievement of the optimum temperature of the
fastest
Slide 7
Briquettes
Briquette is a solid fuel into alternative fuels to replace kerosene
Standard charcoal briquettes with the main raw material of wood has been
set in the SNI 01-6235-2000 where the requirement for good briquettes are
as follows
Parameter

threshold

water content (%)

max 8 %

Material loss at 950 C warming (%) max 15%

Ash content (%)

max 8%

The calorific value of the fuel (kal/gr) min 5000 kal/gr

ISO is the standard used in Indonesia, while in other countries, in contrast to
existing standard in Indonesia
This distinction is based on the different conditions existing timber in the
country
Here is a table that explains the difference in quality standards briquettes in
other countries such as Japan, England, America, and Indonesia itself

Raw Materials
In the present study, the raw material used is the bark waste from the rest of
the chip making industry barking in Sleman, Yogyakarta. Young coconut husk
obtained from residents in the hamlet of Sleman and traders Lodadi coconut
ice around the Islamic University of Indonesia. Talas purchased in traditional
markets along Road Ground
variables Research
The independent variables: a mixture of
50: 45: 5: 50 bark bark charcoal, coconut shell charcoal 45 and 5 adhesive
55: 40: 5: 55 bark bark charcoal, coconut shell charcoal 40 and 5 adhesive
30: 65: 5: 30 bark bark charcoal, coconut shell charcoal 65 and 5 adhesive
and pyrolysis operation time of 90 minutes and 120 minutes
Dependent variable: the pressure used 100 kg / cm2
