A ball of 1 kg mass drops from point A with a velocity of 2
m/s and falls a distance of 5 m to hit the smooth inclined
surface as shown. The restitution factor of the impact is
e = 0.5. Find the Velocity of the ball after impact.

Q. 2 ( 6 points):
The ball of mass mb = 1 kg is thrown at the
suspended box of mass mB = 10 kg with velocity
vb = 5 m/s. If the coefficient of restitution
between the ball and the box is e = 0.6.
Determine the maximum height h to which the
box will swing before it momentarily stops.

restitution is e = 0.5

At a given instant the top B of the ladder has

ladder, and the ladders angular acceleration
at this instant. Where L = 16 ft and = 30
deg.

lb is pin-connected to its support at point A
and has an angular velocity = 5 rad/s when

instant.

Q. 5 (10 points):
The balloon A is ascending at rate vA =10 km/hr and is
being carried horizontally by the wind at vw =25 km/h . If a
bag is dropped from the balloon when the balloon is at
height h = 50 m.
Determine:
1- The time needed for it to strike the ground. Assume
that the bag was released from the balloon with the
same velocity as the balloon.
2- Also, with what speed does the bag strike the
ground?

For the system shown in Figure 1, Block A has a mass of 8 kg and
Block B has a mass of 3 kg. Determine the tension force in the two
cords and the acceleration of each block.

wall, to where the block strikes the ground.

The collar B of weight 15 lb is at rest, and when it
is in the position shown the spring is unstretched. If
another collar A of weight 2 lb strikes it so that B
slides a distance of 4 ft on the smooth rod before
momentarily stopping.
Determine the velocity of A just after impact, and
the average force exerted between A and B during
the impact if the impact occurs in time t = 0.003
s. The spring constant is 30 lb/ft and the coefficient
of restitution between A and B is 0.7.
