A complete guide to Germany:

undergraduate studies
Today I wish to share some of my knowledge regarding undergraduate
studies in Germany (English as medium of instruction not German). There are
two ways that one can follow if he/she wants to study undergrad in Germany.
However, I will talk about only one method that I personally recommend and
suggest every prospective undergrad student should go for if they really
want to Complete their bachelors study abroad but not so called
study and only earning money. So lets get started.. :-)

Method 1: Studying undergraduate in a German University that provides

education fully in English throughout the entire period. There are many
misconceptions that if you want to study in Germany especially at undergrad
level you must know German language which is not true for every institution
at all. There are several (ample in numbers) universities that offer
International Bachelors Programs (taught in English). Visit this website to
search
for
your
desired
courses
and
universities.

Requirements:
1. Completion of HSC with 50% marks minimum.
2. Academic IELTS score of 6.00-7.00(varies from university to university)
3. Successful completion of 2 (after 1.5 years with good grades start
sending in application, which is good enough) years of study in a
university in Bangladesh as our HSC is not recognized in Germany.
4. On the other hand if you have completed A levels with standard grades
then you can contact the universities directly to check that if need to
attend any university in BD for 2 years.( I guess you will not need to)
5. No German language requirement for Academic purpose but if you
learn it till B1 level or A2 level at least in BD which you should, you will
be in a very good place in Germany. Your chances of getting accepted
in German environment quickly will increase, you will adapt easily and
most importantly the odds of getting a part time job will multiply.

You can check the equivalence/requirements if you have a BD degree here

Timeline and Application procedure: Usually, most of the universities

start their International Programs in winter semester only, commencing from
September every year. So, as a prospective student you should start
preparing just after you have finished your HSC or A levels.

First, Must make your passport. Without this will wont be able to do
anything. Start learning German language just after your HSC or A level
exam ends (around May- June) from Goethe institute BD. Although it has
nothing to do with academic requirements but highly encouraged to do so for
your own benefit explained earlier in the requirement section. Check this out
http://www.goethe.de/ins/bd/dha/lrn/deu/ext/enindex.htm

Secondly, you should get into a university in your desired subject that you
wish to study in Germany as soon as HSC or A level test ends (around MayJune). So you can catch the fall session starting from August. I prefer a
private university here as they have open credit system which is easier to
recognize worldwide compared to Public Universities now in BD.
Nevertheless, you can get into a Public university as well. But in that case
dont sit idle till May to December (December and January is the time in BD
when most of the public university starts their yearly session) just for
university admission test. Try learning the Language and driving if you can.
These are soft skills which will be beneficial in the long run.

Third, start preparing for IELTS after completion of one year of your university
studies. You can start preparing anytime you want depending on your
capability. Most importantly, get done with your IELTS before completing your
5th semester (4 months a semester wise in private universities).
After that, manage your documents for application. By now, you should have
narrowed down some universities and subjects that you want to apply for.
From there you know when the application period starts and when is the
deadline. Most of the universities application period for winter session starts
from February and the deadline is May 31 st, in some cases July 15th. So within
this time frame you should be able to complete your 5 th semester (if you
start your university studies by August at the year of your HSC completion

which you must if dont want to miss the session and wait for a year) and
IELTS by the end of April. Then finally, make an application package and send
it before May 31st to uniassist (http://www.uni-assist.de/index_en.html) or to the
university directly depending on your specific university application guideline
which is found on the respective university websites.
Uniassist is a centralized application portal to the German Universities. They
evaluate on behalf of the German universities and sends in the evaluation
report to the respective university you applied for. Then the university gives
the final decision to you. There is an application fee of 68 euro per subject.
An additional fee of 15 euro is charged for every extra application. You can
pay this application fee via DBBL virtual card.

Application documents:
1. Notarized copies of your SSC and HSC certificates and mark sheets.
However, if you can attest it from German embassy which usually
takes 40 days. So if you want to do this, make it done well ahead of
time but not at the last moment. Notarized copies are enough. You can
attest it from education ministry as well. Just go to the education board
and ask for it. It will cost you 400 tk officially not bribe :p.
2. Get your official transcript from the university.
3. IELTS report card. Notarized Photocopies are fine.
4. Application form for the university either uniaasit one or the direc one
to the university.
5. Also the necessary documents that are mentioned on the specific
university application guideline.
After getting a positive result (Insallah all of you will) in July or August, start
preparing for Visa application in Germany. For Visa requirement and cost
related issues please check the German Embassy website or search in google
or other designated Fb groups/websites containing information of German
studies only for Bd students.

I hope this gives you an overall idea about studying Bachelors in English in
Germany. The process described here may be lengthy and to some extend
costly but this is the way it is. There is no shortcut. As I said before, among
two methods this is the least expensive and hassle free way. Remember one
thing, never give up and have patience as you will need it most throughout
your journey towards studying abroad. Beware of Dallals and always verify
for yourself. Please search a lot in google as google is your best friend :-D
regarding this matters. Moreover, we are always here to help as well but
always try to help yourself first.
N.B: Please let me know if there is any wrong information (obviously by
mistake) mentioned in this documents that can be harmful. Thanks for your
discretion.
Hail Altruism. Best of Luck and Cheers to all!
