Primary School

Sri. Kanchi Mahaswami Trust was started in 2006 with the

following objectives :
To bring Paramacharyas message of peace and happiness to a
wider audience so that more people benefit by knowing about
him and be influenced by his thinking.
To support the many institutions that were started during his
life time and ensure that the society and the country in general
benefit by them
To lay particular emphasis on carrying out his upadesa on
spreading the message of the Vedas, Vedanta and Upanishads.
The Sri. Kanchi Mahaswami Trust took a significant step in 2010 towards
regaining Indias rich culture, heritage and wealth of knowledge. Its effort
in this field of high endeavour is to teach our children the true meaning of
education and help them understand that education is not merely a means to
earn a living in order to survive but much beyond that, to realise the purpose
of human birth. The Sri. Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir was inaugurated on
4th June 2010.
Sri. Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir is the largest vedic modern educational
institution not just in India but the world as well. Inspired by the philosophy

Bhojanashala

of His Holiness, Sri. Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swamigal, the Vidya Mandir

has a single-minded educational goal :
To prepare its students to stand head and shoulder above the rest, ingraining
in them high moral values through vedic education combined with modern
thinking and education, to provide sound physical training and enable them
to develop an ability to nurture creativity.

Vision & Mission

Vision

Mission

To create an inspiring
new breed of global
citizens equipped to face
a fast changing world.

l
To achieve the vision by

Offering an unusual education system

that combines the best of Vedic
education and modern education.
l
Offer this new education platform
with world-class facilities embedded in a
traditional environment.
l
Offer this education to the children
of parents who have a vision for their
children to acquire an education
enriched with traditional Indian values
combined with modern education.

This unusual school has emerged with a bold vision to create the global citizens
of tomorrow. It offers a combination education of CBSE and vedic studies.
Children opting for the dual education system are housed in the campus under
the Gurukula system. For families in the neighbourhood, standalone admission
to CBSE is given.
Sri. Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir is reaching out to poor families throughout
South India. These are families where making the two ends meet is a challenge.
Therefore providing education to the children is no mean task for them. To
such families Sri. Kanchi Vidya Mandir offers a unique pay-what-you-can
afford scheme for hostel, healthcare, dress and educational aids. The CBSE
education is given completely free to these students.
Thus a bright young boy gets the benefit of proper Vedic education alongwith
modern CBSE education (in deserving cases, no contribution is taken and is
absolutely free).
In the year 2012, the trust subsidized Rs. 2.98 lakhs per vidyarthi and
Rs. 2.25 lakhs in 2013. In 2014, the subsidy was Rs. 1.75 lakhs. The Vidya
Mandir has about 270 students on its rolls and as on date, it expends
approximately Rs. 5.0 crores out of its resources for the dual education
system. The trust has an accumulated deficit of Rs. 6.42 crores till 31st
March 2014. One of the key costs absorbed by the Trust is the spiraling
cost of provisions, Gas, Milk, Vegetables, Pulses and cooking contract
charges in its Bhojanashala.

For the months of October, November and December 2014,

Oru Pidi Arisi Thittam

March 10, 1966. A large
audience of devotees had
gathered at the famous SivaVishnu temple, at T. Nagar
in Chennai to listen to His
Holinesss discourse. The
Mahaswami spoke about the
importance of paropakaram.
It is in that context that He
spoke about how housewives
can perform annadhanam everyday by following a simple system. Thus was
born the now famous Pidi Arisi Thittam.
It is an elegantly simple scheme in which the house wife would set aside a
handful of rice (pidi arisi) every day when she cooked the meal for her family.
Volunteers would collect the rice thus accumulated and One Anna from her
every month. The rice will be cooked in the nearest temple, and the money
would be used to add some condiments. All the poor and the destitute in the
area were fed through this Pidi Arisi Thittham. In essence, every housewife and
therefore her family participated in feeding the poor in that area. They were
thus the recipients of their blessings and that of the Mahaswami too. We are
celebrating 50 years of Pidi Arisi Thittam between 2015-16.
CBSE School

As a variation of this scheme, recognizing the current day reality but retaining
the essence of the Mahaswamis appeal, we have formulated a scheme for
collection of Rice, Oil, Dal, Sugar for our Bhojanashala so that the Vidyarthis
can be well fed and this would substantially contribute to their well-being and
deriving the full benefits of the dual education scheme.
With a view to standardization and not to collect the grains and pulses
of various qualities and breeds, our scheme invites a contribution of Rs.
1500/- per month to cover the following :

Rice

Sugar

Oil Pulses of any variety

25 kgs

2 kgs

1 kg

We will exclusively use the contribution

for feeding the vidyarthis who would
be 300 by June 2015. Any surplus from
the contribution would be utilized for
vegetables, milk and other provisions.
A project of this dimension counts on
the Philanthropy and support of a large
number of devotees of the Mahaswami
of Kanchi and those committed societal
good. We invite you to participate in
this activity.
