Introduction

To begin with the project, we must first clarify the definition of foreign
worker. Foreign workers are individuals that come to a certain country with
purpose to work and earn money. They will then send their salaries back to their
parents, relatives or siblings in original nation to support their daily living.
Furthermore, there are also some foreign workers that come to certain country
trying to escape from the sin they did in their own country, or the other way is
running away from the crime they did.
In this modern and developing country, Malaysia, there are numerous job
opportunities offered by government or big enterprises such as UEM, Intel, PLUS
and so on to encourage the growth of national economic. These opportunities
have actually attracts the foreign workers to come to Malaysia for a better
working environment so that they can afford a better and more comfortable lives
for their family. By the way, these opportunities are actually offer for the
Malaysian, but the sad case here is the habits of Malaysian that prefer a better
and high-income jobs cause them to quit the job and eventually create more
chances to foreign workers whose income in their own countries is much lower.
This situation will thus create a cycle that encourages more foreign workers to
work in Malaysia. These foreign workers who mainly came from Indonesia,
Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Thailand will return to their homeland after they have
enough wages and learn the skills in respective fields, therefore causing loss of
economic value and manpower in our country.
This situation of increasing population of the foreign workers in Malaysia is
actually leading to some positive and negative effects to our country in both
economic and social. First and foremost, the foreign workers are the major
contributor to the crime happening in Malaysia nowadays. Percentage of
snatching, stealing and raping done by foreign worker is increasing from day to
day. Some foreign workers, especially those without a working permit to stay in
our country have low moral values. Apart from that, some of them commit in
crime with the reasons that they are poor and they do this in order to survive
and also send money back to their country to sustain their family daily expenses.
All of these is actually causing an unsafe environment in our country.
However, it is undeniable that the foreign workers are also bringing some
conveniences to our country and our citizens. For example, they provide a large
amount of human energy to us to run a project and this is actually leading our
country to develop. Especially in the building sector, the pay for the worker is
quite low as compared to the work they done. In this situation, foreign workers
are needed to run the work as they are satisfying with the salary they get due to
their lower salary in their own country.
As the conclusion, there are pros and cons in the increase of population of
the foreign workers in our country. We need them as to sustain our human
resources in certain sectors, but we also need to consider the impact especially
crime that they brought to us in our country. Some alternative solution may be

applied like strengthening of law to reduce the impact and produce a fresh and
safe environment in Malaysia, our beloved country.
