DCS:A10CWARTHOGSTARTUPGUIDE

First,setthebatteryswitchontheelectricalpaneloftherightsideconsoletoPWR
(PWR).ThiswillprovidepowertotheDCbusesandtheAPU.

NowsettheinverterswitchonthesamepaneltoSTBY(standby).Thiswillallowpower
tobesuppliedtonumerousaircraftinstrumentsandtotheengineigniters.

Withelectricalpowernowrunning,wecantakeamomenttotestthecautionand
warningsystems.PressandholdthelamptestbuttonontheAuxiliaryLightingPanelon
theleftconsole.Scanthecockpitwhileholdingthebuttondowntomakesurethe
cautionlightsarefunctional.

Testthefuelindicatorusingthebuttonontherightsideofthefrontdash.Theindicator
isdirectlyabovethetestbutton,thetwoneedlesshouldread3000lbs.andthedigital
totalizeraround6000lbs.

OntheOxygenRegulatorpanel,settheSUPPLYswitchtoONandcheckforoxygen
flow.

PresstheOXYINDTEST(OxygenIndicatorTest)buttontotesttheoxygenremaining
indicator.WatchfortheOXYLOWcautionlightontheCautionLightsPaneltoturnon
whentheindicationfallsbelow0.5liters.

PowertheradioontheleftsideconsoletocommunicatewithATCandmissionassets.
SettheVHF/AMFrequencyModedialtoTR(Transceiver).

DothesamefortheVHF/FMradio.

SettheUHFradioFunctiondialtoMAINtopowertheUHFradio.

Closethecanopybyrightclickingandholdingthecanopycontrolswitchorpress
LEFT
CTRL+C.

Itstimefortheenginestartsequence.First,providepowertotheboostpumpsonthe
leftandrightwingtanksandtheleftandrightfuselagetanks.Setthefourswitcheson
theFuelSystemControlPaneltotheupposition.

enginesarestartedtheACgeneratorstakeoverfromtheAPUtoprovideelectrical
power.

StarttheleftenginebymovingtheleftthrottlefromOFFtoIDLEorpress

.Thiswillstartfuelflow,andusebleedairfromtheAPUtoturnthefansand
ignitethefuelinthecombustionchamber.

Whiletheenginespoolsup,scantheEngineMonitoringInstrumentspaneltowatchthe
EngineInterstageTurbineTemperature(ITT),EngineCoreSpeed,FanSpeed,and
FuelFlowgauges.WatchforthecorefanRPMtostabilearound60%whileidlingonthe
ground.Thelefthydraulicpressureshouldnormalizebetween28003350PSI.

RepeattheaboveprocesswiththerightenginebymovingtherightthrottlefromOFFto
IDLEorpress

Oncetheenginesareidlingnormally,checkyourflightcontrolsrudderinput,
speedbrakes,andflaps.

NowturnoftheAPUgeneratorontheElectricalpanel,andTurnofftheAPUonthe
Throttlepanel.

Ontherightsidepanel,poweruptheControlDisplayUnit(CDU)andEmbedded

GPS/INS(EGI)systems.ThiswillbegintheautomatedBuiltinTest(BIT)andthe
alignmentprocessforthenavigationsystemswhichcanbemonitoredontheCDU
display.
NotethattheNAV/INSalignmentprocesstakesabout4minutes.***Donot
movetheplaneuntilithascompleted***

UncagetheStandbyAttitudeIndicator(SAI)onthefrontdash.Todothis,turntheknob
totheleftbyrollingyourmousewheeldownovertheknob.Onceuncaged,rollthe
wheelbacktosettheSAIaircraftindicatorlevelonthehorizon.

WhilewaitingfortheCDUBITandEGIalignmentprocesstocomplete,wecanproceed
throughthestartupsequence.TurnontheCentralInterfaceControlUnit(CICU)onthe
ArmamentHUDControlPanel(AHCP)onthefrontdash.Thiswillprovideessential
userinterfacecontrolstonumerousaircraftsystems,includingtheleftandright
MultiFunctionDisplays(MFCDs).

WhentheMFCDswarmuptheywilldisplaytheDataTransferSystem(DTS)page,
whichwewillusetotheuploadnavigationandweaponconfigurationdatasavedonthe
datacartridgefromthemissionplanner.NowsettheIntegratedFlightandFireControl
Computer(IFFCC)switchtoTESTbyleftclickingonce.TheIFFCCprovidesweapon
releasecalculations,attitudecontrolandHUDindication.

PresstheENT(enter)buttonontheUpFrontController(UFC)toinitiatetheIFFCCBIT.
Thiswilltakeaboutaminute.

Ontheleftpanel,settheleftandrightYawandPitchchannelsontheSASpaneltoON.

PresstheT/OTRIM(takeofftrim)buttontosettheflightcontrolsfortakeofftrim.

Timetouploadthedatacartridge.SelectLOADALLontheleftMFCDbypressing
OptionSelectButton(OSB)10.

Oncethedataisloaded(about15seconds),settherightMFCDtodisplayCDUdataby
pressingOSB13.

WhentheIFFCCBITiscomplete,presstheENTkeyontheUFC.TheIFFCCshould
displaytheGROUNDBITmenuontheHUD.PresstheSEL(Select)rockerkeyonthe
UFCdownuntiltheHUDcursorpointstoEXIT.PressENTtoexit.TheIFFCCisnow
displayingtheMainMenuontheHUDwhereyoucansetupvariousindicationand
weaponreleaseparameters.TaketheIFFCCoutoftestmodeandsetittoon.

SettheleftMFCDtotheTacticalAwarenessDisplay(TAD)pagebypressingOSB15.

Loaduptheflightplan.Ontherightpanel,rightclicktheSTEERPT(steerpoint)switch
ontheAAPpaneltosetittoFL.PLAN.Thiswillsettheflightroutetoappearonthe
TADdisplay.

Withtheflightandnavigationsystemsready,wecanpreparesomeofthecombat
systemsforthemission.SettheCountermeasuresSignalProcessor(CMSP)mode
switchontheCMSPpaneltoSTBY(standby).

AlsosetthesetthefourSystemSelectSwitchestoON(middleposition).

SettheJointTacticalRadioSystem(JTRS)switchontheAHCPtoON.Thiswillprovide
powertotheSituationalAwarenessDatalink(SADL).

WhentheNAVsystemhasfinishedaligningyoucanselectCDUNAVmodeby
pressingOSB9ontherightMFCD.
YoumustwaituntiltheCDUdisplayreads
T=4.0.0.8beforeselectingNAVmodeoryouwillnotbeabletoactivatetheEACinthe
nextstep.

ArmtheEnhancedAttitudeControl(EAC)switchontheLowAltitudeSafetyand
TargetingEnhancement(LASTE)panelontheleftconsole.

Turnontheradaraltimeter.

SettheantiskidswitchtoON.

TurnontheNosewheelsteeringbypressingthepinkybuttononthecontrolstickor
INSERT
keyonthekeyboard.

Clicktheyellowhandleontheejectionseat.
