DESCRIPTION

Introduction

2.1 Release Summary R15.0.2 (R15A-3)

The R15.0.2 release is a patch release that replaces R15.0.1.
The R15.0.2 resolves an issue with the MS-MXP/10G unit where the unit may come into a deadlock when it is
initiated with R15.0.1 SW.
A NE that already is at R15.0 or R15.01 can be upgraded to R15.0.2 without any traffic hits. See Upgrade
Instruction for details on procedure and if upgrades from earlier releases are traffic affecting.

2.2 Release Summary R15.0.1 (R15A-2)

The 15.0.1 release is a patch release that replaces R15.0.
The following errors in R15.0 has been corrected in R15.0.1:
-

When upgrading the ENM to R15 an incorrect alarm may occur in the TNM on links with TPD10GBE-BU. The
reason is an incorrect status flag in the Network Element (NE) that is used by the TNM to establish status of
the optical connection (service). The TNM will as a result incorrectly indicate that the service is down
(RDS24805 & HLP13015 ). See also separate Product Update (100025-0082 R15 Upgrade issue with
TPD10GBE-BU and TNM)

Related to GBE22-EMXP10/II & GBE10-EMXP10/II.The alarm ERP communication failure shows up when
overbooking a ring. This is due to the RAPS PDU messages are not correctly prioritized in hardware. The
RAPS data is sent in queue 0 which makes it possible to starve the ERP control messages. This will cause
the ERP protection to malfunction as the control communication channel is not functional. (RDS25254)

The DC/DC module on TM-3000 (M3000/DC) is stepped to R1G due to producability changes.

MS-MXP:
This release includes a both FW updates and new traffic images;
- FW update to secure interfacing towards older STM-1/OC-3 signals that have slow rise-/fall-time
- FW update to provide DC balanced signal (0101-toggling to avoid DC drift that could lock certain
SFPs) on all images with SDH/SONET interfaces when Forward-ALS is set to off.
- New Traffic image: 4G Muxponder image supporting
3xGbE (Sync-E) + 1x STM-1/-4, OC-3/- 12 with 1+1 protection
- New Traffic image; 4x 2.5G Transponder image high/low-speed
Two Transponders supporting GbE/STM-16, OC-48 and
two Transponders supporting STM-4/-1, OC-12/-3.
The FW updates are traffic affecting.

FW update on MS-MXP/10G to improve transport of Sync-E. The FW update is traffic affecting.

Introduction of an 8-degree ROADM supporting 80ch configurations (1x8ROADM/50G)

Introduction of a new series of Ethernet Muxponders EMXP/II having a higher feature set as compared
to the first generation. In this release two units are introduced;
- A single-slot unit with 10x FE/GbE-ports and 2x 10GbE-LAN ports (GBE10-EMXP10G_II)

Spare-part CU-SFPs

It is recommended to use spare-part CU-SFP's of release 13.0 or later, the reason is that the replacement will be
easier and quicker. If the spare CU-SFP is of release 13.0 or later a manual upgrade of the software is normally
not necessary. Read the Spare-Part and Maintenance Manual within Volume C of the Operation&Maintenance
manual for more information.

Deviation Descriptions

7.1 Loop-back is not supported on all XFPs

For TPD10G-L-BU loopback is done within the optical transceivers (XFPs) and consequently supported only
when using transceivers that have this in-build feature.
Near-end Loopback is done within the line XFP and Far-end Loopback is done in the client XFP as shown in
Figure 1.

Figure 1: Loop-back in Transponder mode and Regen mode

Note how the loopback function works on a unit that is used in regenerator configuration!
The following DWDM XFPs support loopback:

TRX100031/zzz (40km)

TRX100032/zzz (80km)

TRX100049/zzz (50km)

TRX100082/zzz (40km)

TRX100083/zzz (80km)
The following uncolored XFPs support loopback:

TRX100050/zzz (1550nm 40km)

TRX100051/zzz (1550nm 80km)

Note! The following uncolored XFPs do NOT support loopback:

TRX100044 (1310nm)

TRX100029 (850nm/MM)
The Far-end Loopback is consequently not supported when using TRX100044 or TRX100029. TRX100044 was
initially stated to support loopback, but this function cannot be guaranteed and shall be regarded as nonsupported.
NOTE! This restriction is only relevant for the TPD10G-L-BU unit. All other 10G units with loopback functionality
are performing this without involving the XFPs.

7.2 Protection between two 10G transponders

When setting up protection for STM64 traffic between two 10G transponders it is very important that forward
ALS is set to enabled on all involved client ports to make the protection function work correctly. (For LAN traffic,
protection works with forward ALS enabled and disabled). The default status of forward ALS is disabled and
therefore it is very important NOT to forget to change the forward ALS to enable.

7.3 Old TP10GCLX/xxxx in one end, TP10GTC-ER configured

as an ER (not as CLX sparepart) in the other end
TP10GTC-ER connected to an TP10CLX. When changing FEC type in ER to EFEC the traffic will of course go
down but sometimes the traffic will remain down even when format is set back to GFEC. This has to do with the
fact that the decision threshold in the CLX is changed based on corrected 1:s and 0:s regardless of the fact that
we in this case must have a lot of uncorrectable subrows. This drift will continue until we get LOF and this means
that when format is changed back to GFEC we will be stuck in a LOF state. Using OPTIMIZE on CLX will solve
this issue.
This will only occur in a live network under the following circumstances:
Old CLX in one end. ER configured as an ER (not ER as CLX sparepart) in the other. Fiber already connected
and Adminstatus up on ER before FEC type is changed to GFEC. Note that ER default setting is EFEC.

7.3.1

Affected Unit

Product

Remedy

If the traffic does not come up after change of FEC type, execute the optimize command to re-establish
connectivity.

7.4 Replacing a TM102 TP10GCLBU board with TP10GTCER

When using the TNM:s saved backup from a node where a TP10GCLBU has been used and installing it on a
TP10GTCER the FEC type become E-FEC instead of G-FEC. Since this setting is not possible to change when
created as a TP10GCLBU it will always be using E-FEC without telling the user in anyway.

7.6 Low signal activated LOF on node downstream for MSMXP

MS-MXP is configured in regenerator mode, MSMXPR and the input power to client1 Rx is decreased so that the
alarm low optical input power alarm is generated. LOF is now activated on the downstream node sometimes
before LOF is activated on the MSMXPR. The downstream node should have received AIS from the generator
node.
If a fiber break occurs then everything works as is should. LOS is activated on the regenerator node and sends
AIS to the downstream node.

7.6.2

Revision

Remedy

Use this workaround with caution.

To be able to access the regenerator node, set the port admin status to down. Since the laser is shut down the
regenerator node will be stable and set up the ppp-links downstream and the node can be accessed from the
downstream node. NOTICE the traffic in the upstream direction is not switched to the protection path.

loop from R13 to R15
When upgrading a control loop from R13 to R15, the last 8 channels (channel 951-958) in MDU40 will not be
correctly upgraded.

7.8.1

Remedy

Before upgrade to R15, disconnect the last 8 channels (channel 951-958) in MDU40 from the control loop.
Perform the upgrade from R13 to R15. Add the 8 last channels (channel 951-958) in MDU40 to the control loop.

7.9 ODUk-AIS instead of client maintenance signal on

TP10GOTN/TC
When client fails in terminating mode (signal format is STM64/OC192, 10GBE-WAN or 10GBE-LAN) on
TP10GOTN/TC is ODUk-AIS sent on line instead of client maintenance signal (PN-11 sequence).
Expected behavior during signal failure (applies for terminating client):
Client maintenance signal will be sent = a continuously repeating PN-11 sequence mapped into the OPUk
payload. That is, using Feedback polynomial 1 + x^9 + x^11 with 2047-bit period for determination of the payload
bit-pattern.
Actual result:
Line will send ODUk-AIS instead of the client maintenance signal, in case of client failure (i.e. terminating client).

Description:
When rebooting the traffic unit (TU) this results in a traffic disturbance. When the TU boots up it will clear all
configuration in hardware, wait for new configuration from the controller unit (CU) and then reconfigure the
