    TheInternationalMonetaryFund(IMF)hasforecastIndiawillgrow7.5percentin201516,upfrom7.2percentin
    thecurrentyear,aprojectionlessoptimisticthanthatoftheModigovernment.
    IntheUnionbudget2015,thegovernmentestimatedgrowthofupto8.5percentin201516.
    TheIndianeconomyisthebrightspotinthegloballandscape,becomingoneofthefastestgrowingbigemerging
    marketeconomiesintheworld,theIMFsaidinanofficialstatement.Thereportstressedtheurgencyofcertainkey
    reforms,includingthebottlenecksintheenergy,miningandpowersectorsinfrastructuregaps,landacquisition
    processesandenvironmentalclearances.
    InitsannualassessmentoftheIndianeconomyinthemandatoryArticleIVannualreport,theIMFsaidthatIndias
    vulnerabilitieshaverecededmorethanthoseofmostemergingmarketsandsentimenthasbeenrevived.
    TheIndianeconomyisreviving,helpedbypositivepolicyactionsthathaveimprovedconfidenceandlowerglobaloil
    pricesTocontinueonthistrend,Indianeedstorevitalisetheinvestmentcycleandacceleratestructuralreforms,
    accordingtothestatement.
    Newinvestmentprojectannouncementshavestartedtopickup,particularlyinthepowerandtransportsectors,said
    IMFMissionChiefforIndiaPaulCashin.Healsonotedthatbolsteringfinancialsectorhealthandfurtherfinancial
    inclusionwouldsupportgrowthgoingforward.
    Mr.CashinsaidthatwhileIndiaiswellplacedtocopewithexternalshocks,therearepossiblerisksonthehorizon,
    bothexternalanddomestic.Theseincludespilloversfromweakglobalgrowthandpotentialglobalfinancialmarket
    volatilitythatcouldbedisruptive,includingfromanyunexpecteddevelopmentsastheUnitedStatesbeginstoraiseits
    interestrates.Onthedomesticfront,theweaknessesincorporatebalancesheets,especiallyinlightoftheincreasein
    corporateleverageofthepastfewyears,andworseningbankassetqualitybearwatching,astheycouldweighon
    growth.
    TheIMFreportalsosaidthatIndiaseconomicprofilerecentlygotaliftasthecountryimprovedthewayitmeasures
    economicoutput.Therevisednationalaccountsseriesincorporatesnumerousconceptualandmethodological
    improvementsthatmakethemmoreconsistentwithinternationalbestpractices,itsaidaddingthatthereportitself
    waspreparedbeforetherevisionswerereleasedbytheCentralStatisticsOffice.
    Mr.CashinalsogavethumbsuptotheModigovernmentsrecentmovetointroduceaflexibleinflationtargeting
    framework.Itwillhelpdeliverlowandstableinflation,anddiminishtheprospectofrenewedboutsofhighinflation,

    Amongthereformsthereportrecommendedarestepsintheagriculturesectorforefficientprocurement,distribution,
    andstorageoffoodinthepublicsystem.Greaterflexibilityinlabourmarketsandimprovementsineducationfor
    meetingtherisingshortagesofskilledlabourwereamongthekeyreformssuggested.
