Assessment of the Student Affairs, Welfare, and Services Programs


(SAWSPs) of PUPQC Branch Based on the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) Qualification Standards for Academic Year 20132014.

The Problem
The main problem of this study is the assessment of the student affairs, welfare,
and services programs rendered in PUP Quezon City Branch based on the qualities and
evidences in the provisions of Student Affairs and Services set and implemented by the
Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines.
Research Methodology
The study utilized a descriptive-evaluative research design. The respondents of
the study were the administrators, teaching and nonteaching staffs, and the second to
fourth year students of the locale selected from a total of 1, 193 population using Slovins
formula, and specifically stratified-random sampling was used. In gathering the pertinent
data in this study, a validated research instrument was used to come up with the
qualitative and quantitative data. Statistical tools used to test the hypotheses were
frequency, percentage, and weighted mean.

Conclusion
In the light of the findings garnered in the study, the following conclusions were
drawn:
Generally, the assessment on qualities and evidences were rated by the threegroup of respondents as Moderate ranging from 2.5 to 3.49 which means according to
the rubric-scale used the Provision of student affairs, welfare, and services programs are
implemented/accessible/relevant/functional/equitable and productive in some aspects,
but improvement is needed to overcome weaknesses.
Recommendations
Based on the foregoing findings and conclusions, the following recommendations
are proposed:
1. A follow-up research study must be conducted to validate the results of this study
in terms of evidences aspects;

2. In the follow-up research study, the assessment of SAWSPS must be evaluated
and assessed by the group of respondents who are actually availing of the
programs and services provided to make it more reliable and valid;
3. In the follow-up research study, the assessment of the existing SAWSPs of
PUPQC Branch must be evaluated and strictly categorized in terms of the
following support:
3.1 administrative supports

3.2 fund distribution and allocation


3.3 facilities and equipments
3.4 community relations
3.5 student supports
4. In the follow-up research study, the needs and problems encountered by the
administrator-respondents, teaching and non-teaching respondents, and studentrespondents in the provision of the programs and services provided by the
PUPQC SAWSPs must be determined;
5. In the follow-up research study, the significant difference in the assessment made
by the different group of respondents must be considered; and
6. In the follow-up research study, the significant relationship between the general
profiles of the different group of respondents must be considered.
Other Recommendations
1. The institution (PUP System) should harmoniously and regularly monitor and
evaluate/assess the programs and services of the office of student affairs and
services in the light of the conceptual framework of this study with high regard to
the qualification standards as established by the CHED so that the programs and
services may be rendered with quality and quantity satisfaction; and
2. To the future researchers, a follow-up research should be well-thought and
founded on legal bases and carefully crafted from reliable and credible reviews of
related literature and studies regarding student affairs, welfare, and services
programs must be conducted.
