ESSAY

(As requirement to get VDMS Scholarship)

In this globalization era, education is an important and its developing every time. From
education we can take control of science and technology so we can make better living. At
first, let me introduce myself. My name is Hafidh Syifaunnur. I was born in Kudus, May 16,
1994. I live at Gulang Village RT 02 RW IV, Mejobo, Kudus. Now I study in Faculty of
Mathematic and Natural Sciences at Semarang State University and majoring Chemistry
Education (Undergraduate Degree/S1).
The education development nowadays has many support factors. One of them and
important in my thought is the needed of Bachelor of Education that not only have hard skill
(mastery of materials) but also soft skill of educating. Both skills must have by a teacher
because teachers have important role in create and develop the ability of students thought.
One of my reasons to choose study in chemistry education is I want to be a part of the
education development in this country by teaching chemistry to the young generation.
Chemistry is a science of life. Many concept inside of chemistry that relate to our daily life.
The mastery of chemistry concept can help us to understand the nature and how we can
process the natural source to make better living through the technology that conserve the
nature. To make better living without harming nature is one of the education development
goals in my thought.
As a student who still in the 4th semester, I am still learning to master the chemistry
concept that I will use when I teach soon and building my soft skill of educating through
learning in the class or students organization (Himpunan Mahasiswa). Mastery of chemistry
concept and soft skill of educating are my keys to join the education development. After I
graduate from my undergraduate degree, 2 years from now I want to work in the educational
institution. Beside of that, I want to continue my study to graduate degree (S2) and take
chemistry science as my major.
I realized that my 2 next years is not easy to get, but I wont give up and I take many
possibilities to make my dreams come true. To realize it all I have to study hard and trying to
make my own money and find scholarship to ease my parent financial burden of my scholar
exposure.
Many scholarship qualify students not only from how much GPA he/she got but also
character and soft skill he/she had. If I get VDMS scholarship, I will study hard more and
develop my soft skill so that I can get good achievement and can ease my parent financial
burden to pay my scholar exposure. And also if I have a chance to can join many programs for
developing my soft skill that VDMS scholarship had made.
