Competence 4

: Respect and appreciate the honest behavior, discipline,

responsibility, caring (tolerance, mutual assistance), polite,
confident, in interacting effectively with the social and natural
environment in a range of socially and presence.
: Understand and apply knowledge (factual, conceptual, and
procedural) based on his curiosity about science, technology,
arts, culture and events related phenomena seem eye
: Rework, Serve, and reasoning in the realm of concrete (using,
parse, compose, modify, and create) and the realm of the abstract
(writing, reading, counting, drawing, and fabricated) according
to the learned in schools and other sources in the same
viewpoint / theory

Basic Competence
1. Determining surface area and volume of cylinder, cone, and sphere.
2. Estimate and determining surface area of irregular plan and space by applying
combination of its basic geometry.

III. Competence Achievement Indicators

3.
4.
5.

Active in surface area of sphere learning,

Cooperate in group activity,
Tolerance in the different problem solving in group activity,
Find the formula of surface area of sphere,
Students are skillful to determine surface area of some irregular shape by combining
basic geometry.

IV. Learning Objective

1.

Students expected can determine surface area formula of sphere correctly, after
doing some experiment.

2.

After founding surface area formula of sphere, students are expected able to
apply it in solving a problem correctly.

V. Learning Material and Requirement Material

Requirement Material: Surface area of plan and surface area of tube.
Activity 2.1

Prepare one plastic ball, ballpoint, scissor, cutter, carton paper, and
ruler.

Cut plastic ball become two similar shape, than

draw 4-6 circle on carton paper with the same
diameter according to the catted plastic ball.
Make a small cut from a half of ball, then put it
into the circle.

Discussion
By doing activity 2.1 please discuss with you group to answer that
question!

How many circle that have been covered by a

half of ball?
What is the area of the circle that have been
covered by all side of ball?
What is your conclusion that have you got?
a.

Explain your answer to your friends in front of the class!

Let, figure 3.2 (a) is a plastic ball with radius r and figure 3.2
(b) is a net of a tube with radius r and the height of the tube is
equal to the diameter of ball. According to Math Info beside. Mr.
Archimedes said If sphere and tube have same radius and height
