Introduction
The oil fields Odudu, together with Afia, Ime and Edikan are located on OML 100. These
fields were developed by TEPNG in the conventional offshore area (water depth: 70m) in the
period 1993-1995 which makes them about 15 years old.
OML 100 fields are developed with a manned central complex comprising a process
platform (ODP1) bridged linked to the wellhead platform (ODD1). Three unmanned satellites
AFD1, IMD1 and EDD1 are tied back to the central complex. The liquids of three satellite
fields (Afia, Ime and Edikan) are piped to ODP1 and onwards to FSO UNITY. The central
complex also handles the oil production from two other blocks, OML 102 (Ofon) and OML 99
(Amenam). This makes ODP1/ODD1 a production hub for OML 99, OML 100 and OML 102.
Its unavailability would have a major impact on TEPNG production, therefore all safety
issues on ODP1/ODD1 shall be treated as highly critical. Odudu offshore field is located
102km south-east of Port Harcourt. It is accessible by boat and Helicopter.
1.1. Document Scope
This document defines and details the MOT standard function developed for the OML100
Upgrade Project PCS System. It further specifies their implementation methodology.
This document would form the basis of the software and hardware design philosophy and
thus adheres to the TEPNG General Specifications and project specific requirements. This
document defines the MOT standard functions and objects and specifies their
implementation.

Motor Standard Function


1.4. Scope
This document describes functions to be performed by Motor typical. The three following
typical will be used:

MOT: Low voltage motor and High voltage motor with fuse contactor (P 1,5MW)
MOT-BK: High voltage motor with circuit breaker (P > 1,5MW)
MOT-ST: Motor status only

from this block. The processed value goes to the flow measurement block. After the flow
measurement the output goes to the correction algorithm. Pressure and temperature values
are fed to the correction algorithm for
calculating the compensation. A fall back temperature and pressure is also maintained in
case of maintenance or fault on the respective transmitters.

This function block manages:

The interlock of the mode of the function block MC-2 in AUT mode in case of fault
status (discrepancy, unavailability), inter start lock, trip from safety controller, or
process lock (SDV not opened),
The automatic alarm masking by the maintenance inhibition,
The generation of the unavailable alarm,
The interdictions to put the function block MC-2 in calibration mode.

The program uses the properties of the block to generate the discrepancy and the interlock
of the motor. The operator calls the faceplate of this function block to start/stop the motor,
according to the mode of the block.

This function block manages:
The start-up counter of the motor, the number of start-up is recorded in the
parameter P01, and the running time (Hour) of the motor is recorded in the
parameter P03,
The display of the operation mark of the maintenance inhibition (frame of the
faceplate displayed in yellow, with the label INHIB in the bottom of the faceplate, in
case of maintenance inhibition activated)
The interdiction to switch on the function blocks MC-2 in simulation and tracking.

1.7. Detailed Description of Functions


1.7.1.

MAN/CASCADE Mode

1.7.1.1. MANUAL / AUTO mode

MAN/AUT mode is set by higher level automatic control (pumping unit typical, for
example).
MAN/AUT mode is always set in MAN mode if there is not higher level automatic
control (When no interlock is active in which case it is forced in AUT mode).
In Manual mode (MAN), the operator controls the start and the stop of the motor.
In Automatic mode (AUT), the start and the stop of the motor is performed by upper
level.

1.7.1.2. START / STOP command


Start/Stop command is locked in Stop position in case of:

Safety trip, (MXSL status transmitted to the PCS)


Unavailability status.
Discrepancy status,
Process interlock, (e.g. suction valve not opened )
Inter starts timer not elapsed (concerns HT motors)
Inter motors start timer not elapsed (concerns HT motors depending on the same
D/B/S)
Maintenance Inhibition

Maintenance inhibition command is available for operator when the maintenance access
level is set.
When the maintenance inhibition is set to active:

Feedback running/stopped status switch is no more taken into account in internal


status handling, but the animation is still showing the status.
Discrepancy and Unavailability alarms are inhibited.
Alarms of I/O Invalidity (PCS) are inhibited.

Analogue Output Fault Status

1.7.3.1. Motor status


HMI motor status is following the status input (running/stopped)
Internal Status is active:

if the maintenance inhibition status is not set, when the status input is active
if the maintenance inhibition status is set, when the operating command status is
active

1.7.3.2. Discrepancy status


It indicates a discrepancy between the operating command and the feedback status, after a
time delay (discrepancy timer).

Discrepancy timer is launched upon status change of the operating command.


If there is a discrepancy, the command status is reset.
The discrepancy status remains active till the alarm is acknowledged.

1.7.3.3. Fault status


This status includes

discrepancy status
Unavailability status.

1.7.3.4. Unavailability status


Unavailable status is aligned with the unavailable input, which is active in normal situation:
For Example, No electrical fault, no local emergency stop. This status remains active till its
alarm is acknowledged.
1.7.3.5. Invalidity status
This status will report a hardware fault concerning associated I/O cards (field
inputs/outputs).

the operator.
When Cascade mode of the MOT is set, no hand symbol is shown.
In case of output invalidity, the hand symbol is white and the frame is blinking yellow
before acknowledgement and steady yellow after acknowledgement.
