DWF 2014 by the numbers


Dundas West Fest resulted in an estimated economic impact of
around $950K on Toronto
New spending also supported equivalent of 16 full-year jobs and
$306,272 in tax revenue
Local residents spent over $1M at Dundas West Fest. There is
definite local support for event
73% of attendees agreed that Dundas West Fest sponsors and
exhibitors enhanced their experience. 55% claim to be loyal to
brands that make meaningful contributions to their favourite
events
Dundas West Fest attendees are high consumers of airline
tickets and beer. 58% plan to purchase an airline tickets within the
next 12 months. 54% are regular consumers of beer.

Approx 60,000 visitors.in our 2nd year!


Content was submitted and presented almost exclusively by local artists (living literally on or down the street), by local faith
groups of all denominations, organized by parents from local school councils & local residents groups.
In addition, less than 20% of all vendors were outside vendors (that is, not a BIA bricks & mortar member) and of those
outside vendors, the vast majority (all but 2) were based less than 5 km from the street. Over 80- percent of the
displays, vendors booths, performances, etc were presented or done by our BIA members. For example, ALL of the
patios were run by BIA members, no beer tents
in

other words, this event is a truly local showcase of the businesses & the community in which the
festival happenedvery rare & unique, for downtown Toronto.

Dundas West Fest has become a
premiere destination for music
lovers. From hot world music at
Lula Lounge to hip indie sounds at
the Garrison, music lovers always
find what they seek. Musicians of
all types play live at many of our
bars, including the Communists
Daughter, Full of Beans and Opera
Bobs. And if you listen closely,
you can also hear the sounds of
the Portuguese- speaking world,
from Angolan Kuduro to Brazilian
Samba, the duelling limericks of
the Azores and the haunting
echoes of Lisbons Alfama

Dundas West Fest will include 2 Kids Zones
within its perimeter, filled with fun activities for
kids and families, organized and supervised by
parent & community volunteers from the parent
councils of local schools. We believe in activities
that are fun as well as educational and that
these should be run by those who have the best
interests of kids in mind: parents!

Who We Are
The Dundas West Business Improvement
Area is a vibrant commercial and residential
neighbourhood that stretches along
Dundas West from the CNR Tracks west of
Lansdowne to the east corner of Rusholme
Road and Dundas West within Ward 18 of
the City of Toronto.
Culturally diverse, affordable and friendly,
this area of Toronto is attractive to young
families, artists and new Canadians.
Formed in 2006, and a member of TABIA
(the Toronto Association of Business
Improvement Areas), the Dundas West BIA
is working to make its mainstreet a great
place to work, shop, live and visit.

Little Portugal is a dynamic urban business


district in Toronto's downtown West End,
spreading along Dundas Street West from
Shaw Street to Rusholme Road.
