Our life does not revolve on being blessed, but rather, we
are called to become a blessing as well by becoming a person of service to others.
(Name all the persons to be given salutations), dear
cadets and cadettes, friends, ladies and gentlemen, a grace-filled afternoon to all of you. This rare opportunity given to your humble servant is very much appreciated because standing here to inspire is already something worthwhile. I assure everyone here, it does not take one great deed to make a name. The little things we do for others from day to day will define us forever. I remember the words of Winston Churchill, We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Therefore, it is in giving of ourselves for the sake of others makes our lives meaningful and worthy to face our Heavenly Creator when we leave this world. Another, do not count the things we have done for others. Instead, add up the number of times we felt better just because we made them happy. Every moment that passes is precious and irreplaceable so we need to value it by putting a purpose in all that we do and that is meant for the people around us and not for ourselves-that is selfishness. When we make others contented of their lives, the more bliss is experienced within us.
Next, we will get tired as everyone else does. We may
have the choices to stop, but remember, taking a good rest is a lot different from giving up. Mistakes are painful when they happen, however, they should not be the reason not to continue with what we are doing especially if they are for the benefit of the majority. Sometimes a slight effort is what it needs to accomplish our goals, yet we are filled with much tension thereby hindering our good vision. Energy is its essence so everyday, we have to decide how to use it by knowing what we want, what it requires to reach our target and what we have to do to maintain our focus.
Lastly, life itself is a big challenge that we ought to face.
We win some, we lose some. What matters most is that the sacrifices we make have their rewards, not here on earth but in heaven. Helping others knows no boundary nor waits for a fruitful return. We do this because Jesus Christ Himself is born in this world to serve and not to be served, has died for the salvation of all mankind and not to be put on a pedestal and has lent a hand to a many people not to be glorified or famous but because He has chosen to do so. Being of service to others entails a lot of effort for the common good, surrender of our comfort zones, physical and mental strength to carry on with the tasks, and most of all, faith in God for we all know that He is the director
of our being. All of these will sum up into one common
goal-to uplift others lives through extending our hands and hearts without expecting anything in return.
Thank you very much for listening and yours truly do
hope that one day, when oaths meet again, each of us has accomplished our own duties to our neighbors by means of community service.
