Rams get one over old boss

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Newcastle,NSW- Parramatta scored the final 14 points as
they finished over the top of the Newcastle Hunters in
Newcastle.
The game was billed as a battled of the Head Coaches as
Kurt Sorenson went head to head with former Ram Coach
Laurie Frier. "It had more to do with the guys on the field
than us old blokes on the sideline" said Sorenson when
asked if the victory was any sweeter as it was over Frier. "
He has my full respect. Great coach, great man".
The game started with both Luke Ogden and Trent Cannon
throwing interceptions. Ogden tried to force the ball into his
star Tight End David Ingram only to have Jared Mbye play
press coverage and he drove harder on the ball. But
despite starting at the Hunters 13, cannon under pressure
forced the ball over the middle and Justin Ranpling stole the
ball back.
Ingram was shut down completely by the Rams, double
teaming him on most plays effectively. But this did open up
opportunities for others and in the first half it was Eric
Decker who made hay. One long catch saw Decker get to
be one on one with Mbye and he easily beat him for speed.
Ogden then found his Fullback Peter Paea in the flat after
coverage was drawn inside by Ingram and the Hunters had
the first touchdown.
Cannon got the Rams on the board with a late drive and it
was Beau Backo who kicked the 42 yarder. Newcastle then
replied with a field goal to Shaun Murdoch but from that
point the scoring dried up for the home team. Luke Ogden
was still hitting his targets at 70% but the big plays had
dried up. Also Ian Lasscock was struggling handling a
bigger work load now without Luke Gordon filling in.
Cannon was now in rhythm and after driving the Rams
down the field, he handed it off to Anga Barry for the 4 yard
score. Early in the 4th Cannon found his Tight End Jackson
Foster for his first career reception which became his first
career touchdown and the Rams had the lead the would not
lose.
