Jiuh Yeh Industrial Co., Ltd.

, is a precision plastic injection mold manufacturer and injection

molder based in Taiwan, Taipei. According to Business Director Frederick Wong, the Company
provides turnkey solutions ranging from preliminary design (OEM/ODM) to finished injection parts in
accordance to its customers requirements. The TPR is pleased to feature Jiuh Yeh Industrial as its
Case Study for May. We hope you enjoy learning about this innovative company.

What is your company niche, and what does your company do that is notable, unique or different?
The most important thing in the tooling industry is
innovation, and because of it, we keep improving our skills
in (1) gas-assist molds, (2) rapid tooling, (3) mirror surface
tooling, and (4) double injection tooling as our company
has grown over time, rather than stay in traditional/normal
single injection tooling stage. We believe this point makes
our company unique and different than others for meeting
clients demands time after time. Employees also give
their feedback. We go after areas of waste and
improve operations on an incremental basis and we
get immediate results.
When and how did you get into the industry, what attracted you to it?
Ray Liu, Managing Director, majored in Mold/Tooling in a Technical College in Taipei
and entered this industry after he graduated. He started his present company in 1988 mainly
building plastic mold tooling for the consumer electronic industries. Then, their major customers
included Foxconn Technology, Aiwa and Panasonic. Today, major customers such as Panasonic
and Sony are still our anchor customers. In 2006, we branched out to other industry sectors such
as automotive and medical devices. In 2006, through a close mutual friend, Frederick Wong was
invited to join as a shareholder and partner and he is responsible for business development, and
sales and marketing. (Frederick Wong graduated with a diploma in Shipbuilding & Offshore
Engineering, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and also has an advanced diploma in Strategic
Marketing, Singapore Polytechnic and a business degree in International Marketing from
Edith Cowen University, Australia.)

Relate a notable "best time" for your company.

1994~1998. During this period, it was a very good year for mold and tooling manufacturers and orders were
plentiful and prices were good, too.
Similarly, relate notable challenges that your company has overcome.
When we had an order from Denso, a tier 1 automobile supplier,
for car pipe tooling with fully auto-unscrewing from top and bottom.
Normally it needs two motors on each side and takes around 90 second
for cycle time. We achieved and client was happy about it. Of course,
the client would more pleased if we could make cycle time shorten; so
after our team conducted a study out some special know-how,
we not only improved cycle time by 50%, we also saved a motor
cost for our client and that was beyond what the client expected!!
When you are working on projects with your customers, what aspects would you like them to
better recognize?
We would like them to better recognize us as their reliable subcontractor for their molding and tooling
solutions and they can always count on us for their project.
List newly acquired technology, machinery or key
personnel (in last year).
We recently purchased a YAZDA High speed CNC & 3D
inspection machine.
Has your company recently expanded? Plans to
expand or form partnerships/alliances?
We plan to expand a molding facility in Vietnam
to provide direct molding services to the automotive
and the consumer electronic industries there.

What do you think about changes occurring in the industry due to globalization? How has it

resulted in intense competition from lower cost China.
Internet marketing is becoming very important and clients can easily access new sources of supply.
Our company puts a strong emphasis on, and shows respect for, our customers Intellectual Property
and also on on-time delivery.
What will the industry look like in 3 to 5 years?
Technology and new skills development will be the key of the future; and an increase in efficiency and
