This module introduces proper safety practices and procedures while servicing air
conditioning system.

PERFORM SERVICING OF AIR-CONDITIONER UNIT
LEARNING STANDARD
1. Check and clean air filters
2. Service the drain pipes
3. Service the condenser.
4. Service the evaporator.
5. Service compressor.
6. Lubricate all moving parts
7. Check the condition of brackets and casing
8. Check operating condition of the machines.
9. Check and service control system
10. Check and service the wiring lay-out
11. Check and service electric motor and blower fan
12. Confirm the operating condition of the equipment
TEACHING STRATEGIES
1. Switch off the air-conditioner according to proper procedure.
2. Take off the air filter according to proper procedure
3. Clean air filter according to proper procedure
4. Changing the air filter according if required to specification.
5. Switch off the air-conditioner according to proper procedure.
6. Clean drain pipes using proper method.
7. Replace the drain pipes leak according to specification.
8. Switch off the air-conditioner according to proper procedure.
9. Select proper size of fin comb according to specification.
10. Using correct fin comb size to straighten the condenser fins according to
specification
11. Clean condenser according to proper procedure .
12. Switch off the air-conditioner according to proper procedure.
13. Select proper size of fin comb according to specification.
14. Using correct fin comb size to straighten the evaporator fins according to
specification
15. Clean evaporator according to proper procedure .
16. Clean compressor according to procedure .
17. Check compressor terminals for shortage accordance to proper procedure
18. Run the compressor according to proper method.
19. Read the ampere using appropriate measuring equipment
20. Use correct lubrication oil tolubricate the moving parts accordance to proper
procedure.
21. Identify the condition of bracket and casing
22. Clean brackets and casing according to manual service.
23. Apply paint/anti-rust coating according to manual service.
24. Repair brackets and casing firmness and strength according to specification.
25. Check operating conditions of the machine according to service manual.

26. Record operating conditions of the machine record service form according to
specification
27. Control system is identify to perform servicing and maintenance as required.
28. Replace control devices according to specification.

31. Usual inspection is to be perform according to proper procedure
32. Continuity and insulation test is to be done by using appropriate testing equipment
33. Motor terminal, electrical switches and components is to be check and replace
according to proper procedure
34. Test the wiring system is functioning correctly according to specifications.
35. Observe safety precaution accordingly.
36. Motor and blower fan is identify for servicing according to proper procedure
37. Disconnect wiring of electric motor to be service.
38. Use appropriate testing equipment to check coil resistance and insulation of the
motor.
39. Remove and clean motor blade with proper procedure
40. Check bearing, bush and replace where applicable with proper procedure.
41. Connect wiring of the electric motor according to specification
42. Test run and tabulate the result.
43. Observed safety precaution
44. Determine wiring and electrical components is working in good condition.
45. Test run the unit with standard operating procedure
46. Record and tabulate readings according to specification.
47. Observed all safety precaution.
