Packer Feedthru Systems

PACKER PENETRATORS

BIW Connector Systems

Important Note for Packer Feedthru Designs
NOTE: We must fully understand the
packer setting and unsetting mechanism
before we decide to use a feedthru
system.
There should be no relative movement
between the primary string (tubing) and
the secondary string (electrical) when
setting or unsetting the packer.
Otherwise, the cable clamped to the tubing
(primary) will pull from the feedthru
secured to the secondary string.

BIW Connector Systems Product Overview

BIW Connector Systems

Designed for Ease of Installation
The packer feedthru mating mechanism of the connectors is simple
and user friendly, the same as for the wellhead feedthrus.

BIW Connector Systems

Packer Feedthru
Unlike Wellheads, Packers
Typically Have Space
Limitations for the Feedthru
System.
Feedthrus Can be Installed
1) Integral,
2) Above the Packer, or
3) Below the Packer.
Crossover Adapters are
Typically Required When the
Secondary Bore is Too Small.

Packer Feedthru with Cable Molded on Both Ends
Cable splices are required
on both ends, one vertical
and one horizontal.

Note: The box

the packer.

Packer Feedthru
An Example of a Bottom Fed, Top Lock System
Has to fit inside the ID of the secondary bore.

If room limitations allow the feedthru to be bottom fed,

this design will eliminate the vertical splice.

Shrouds, Pods and BOP Cans
All packer feedthrus can be and have
been installed as shroud or pod feedthrus.
BOP Can assemblies are sometimes used
to test a well with the rig and on the well.

Although pressure ratings of 5000 psi are

not needed in these installations, still a
good seal and a unit that can handle the
high temperature and pressures is
preferred.
