This article is a sham. Anyone with half a brain must conclude the founding fathers
clearly intended for the 2nd amendment to guarantee the individual's right to bear
arms. I have read the words of many of our founding fathers, nothing could be
more clear. Here is a compendium that just a cursory look will provide.
The Second Amendment:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right
of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Below are quotes from our founding fathers on the right to bear arms so as to better
understand their intent. These should clearly dissuade the dishonest anti-gun folks
as the intent of these people is unmistakably clear.
---------------------------------------------THOMAS JEFFERSON
Thomas Jefferson was a Founding Father and the principal author of the Declaration
of Independence. Note that in the first sentence of the 2nd amendment the militia is
being referred to as the mechanism for ensuring a "free state". Free surely must
include being free of a tyrannical government. A "militia" was a contemporary way
that people defended themselves, hence the use of the word in the 2nd
amendment. Just because we may no longer employ militias does not mean the
right is void.
- QUOTES "Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those
entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into
tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson
"A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and
what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference." -- Thomas Jefferson
"The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the
people; that they may exercise it by themselves, or they may act by
representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all
times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion,
freedom of property, and freedom of the press." -- Thomas Jefferson in a Letter to
Major John Cartwright (5 June 1824).
"None but an armed nation can dispense with a standing army. To keep ours armed
and disciplined is therefore at all times important." -- Thomas Jefferson
"No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms."
Virginia Constitution, 1776.
-- OTHER -When the Shay's Rebellion occurred. Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to William
Stevens Smith, November 13, 1787
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people
cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be

---------------------------------------------NOAH WEBSTER
Noah Webster was a founding father and is known for his books, which help teach
young Americans to read and write. His name is synonymous with the dictionary.
- QUOTES "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in
almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce
unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and
constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any
pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress,
can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional;
for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to
resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive."
-Noah Webster - An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution
(Philadelphia 1787).
---------------------------------------------RICHARD HENRY LEE
Richard Henry Lee was a founding father.
- QUOTES "Whereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people
always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them;
nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on
every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly
anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it,
whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding
against it."
--Richard Henry Lee, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
---------------------------------------------JOHN ADAMS
John Adams was a founding father. He was also the first vice-president and second
president of the USA.
- QUOTES "To suppose arms in the hands of citizens, to be used at individual discretion, except
in private self-defense, or by partial orders of towns, countries or districts of a state,
is to demolish every constitution, and lay the laws prostrate, so that liberty can be
enjoyed by no man; it is a dissolution of the government. The fundamental law of
the militia is, that it be created, directed and commanded by the laws, and ever for
the support of the laws."
