subjects?

These provide the necessary building blocks of knowledge on which future

physiotherapy units rely. It is expected you retain your knowledge and skills developed
in this units.

You need to revise and be familiar with especially anatomy, pathophysiology,

biomechanics, research and communication skills before you commence your second
year physiotherapy unit. This knowledge and understanding will be assumed and used
in application to physiotherapy contexts.

Pre-Requisites for Core Competencies

of Physiotherapy Practice (400982)
1. Introduction to Physiotherapy Practice 400906
2. Pathophysiology 1 400138
3. Communication in Health 400732
4. Functional Anatomy 400881
5. Introduction to Biomechanics - 400882

Failure to pass units

If you fail any subject, this may delay your graduation a year due to prerequisites to complete other units, and also requirement to pass all 1st
and 2nd year units to progress to 3rd year.

THEREFORE every unit is critical for your physiotherapy degree so it is

recommended you treat study seriously.

What if I fail?

If you fail a subject, you will need to make an appointment with Dr Bredge McCarren
(Course Advisor) to discuss academic progression and scheduling of units. You will
consequently have a non-standard enrolment and will have to meet regularly to
discuss scheduling of units.

You also need to critically evaluate your performance in your first year of study
identifying your strengths, areas for improvement and strategies to improve
performance.

Student Registration - What is my responsibility?

You need to tell Australian Physiotherapy Board (AHPRA) if:

-

you have been charged of an offence or have been convicted or found guilty of an
offence punishable by 12 months imprisonment or more

you have had your registration suspended or cancelled under the law of another
country that provides for registration of students

This also needs to be communicated to Course Advisor, Dr Bredge McCarren as this

may impact your study progression and access to clinical education placements

Clinical Education Requirements:

1. National Police Certificate
2. NSW Health Student Undertaking
3. Working With Children Check
4. NSW Health Code of Conduct Agreement
5. Health Records and Information Privacy Declaration
6. Immunisation and Vaccination

NB: These are pre-requisites to enrol in 400982
