6. Analysis of Student LearningShowcase Lesson

The teacher uses assessment data to profile student learning and communicate
information about student progress and achievement.
Task
Analyze your assessment data, including pre/post/during assessment data summary to
determine students progress related to the lesson objective in your showcase lesson.
Use visual representations and narrative to communicate the performance of the whole
class and three individuals. Conclusions drawn from this analysis should be provided in

Individuals
Understanding and analyzing these students was important because they all sign in
about the same area of the classroom. While Ms. Alley places students based on their
ability to complete tasks and follow directions, it was very interesting to me that these
select students perform on such different levels yet are placed in the same area of the
classroom.
Student 5: Most Successful

Teacher Work Sample EDUC 429

Paige Railey

This student always follows directions and does her work properly. She doesnt speak
out of turn and always raises her hand and waits to be called on. She is very confident in
her work, which showed in her post assessment. This student used all the proper
techniques when working on her project. Her finished project was executed perfectly.
Her kernels were lined up correctly and she used the materials correctly, as well. Her
work was neat and clean when she turned it in. There wasnt any sign of excess glue
used or poor cutting skills. It was obvious that she referenced the example and applied it
to her own project.
Student 2: Least Successful
This student has a very hard time paying attention and following directions. He second
guesses himself constantly which hints that he probably doesnt have a very high sense
of self confidence. I am constantly asking him to raise his hand or lower his voice. This
student used all the materials correctly but he didnt finish gluing on kernels and his
kernels were randomly placed instead of carefully placed in a line like the directions were
given. It was obvious of his lack of ability to pay attention because he asked questions
that were covered in the directions. His final project showed that he wasnt paying
attention to directions.
Student 3: About Average Performance
This student usually performs about average on all projects. She also lacks self
confidence and asks a lot of questions but it is more so to get attention rather than
actually not know what to do. While this student asks a lot of questions, her final project
still looked close to what the example was. She used the glue carelessly but I was able
to prevent it because I was standing near her table when it happened the first time. This
students final project reflected the example but not as well as student 5.
