JOB PROFILE

The job assigned to me was related to people management in hospital industry and gathering
the proper information from people and collect their views resulting in assessment of the
potential of the hospital industry.
The study is helpful to provide the relevant information about the awareness of the hospital
industry.
Through data available with me, I tried to approach every employee of each department of
the hospital.
I used to meet with department head of concerned department and used to tell them give the
detail information about the hospital protocol.
Job training is the real life experience of my life where get a chance to implement the
knowledge, where I had learnt in the class room sessions. Here I am exposed to an actual
work situation and is assigned a job which I expected to complete within a specific span
following the companies norm.
In this practice experienced employee or supervisor instruct the training is the best
opportunity for enrich my knowledge through real life work experience, with the help of that
I can know the difference between theory and practical life.
For completion my project I had to go to the particular department of the hospital. I have to
see whether the concern person who am I going to meet is free at that time or not. If he is
free then only I used to meet the concerned person and talk about the given subject. I talked
about their Designation, Specialization, Technology thrust, and happiest as well as sad
moments in the hospital, about the hospital culture, something about the patient and their
diagnosis.

RESEARCH
The people management is very important and for getting the information from people
who are in the hospital and the outside of the hospital.

Method

The first step in any research project is to define the problem. In defining the problem,

· The researcher should take into account the purpose of the study, the relevant
background information, what information is needed, and how it will be used in
decision making.

· Interviews with industry experts. Once the problem has been precisely defined,
the research can be designed and conducted properly.

Determining the sample size

After the method is determined, a particular sample size can be calculated. The
number represents the total number of elements that must be surveyed for the results
to be valid.

Doing this one should ensure that all respondents use the same guidelines during the
interview process so that the data are comparable.

Total sample sizes is 80

Total no. of respondent covered 80.

Page | 12
COLLECTION OF DATA

After considering the sampling technique in project in this has been identified and
selected.

The next step is to gather the essential data. At this stage, there is much temptation
among us to organize a field survey to collect data.

Primary Data:

It was collected through face to face interaction with the Employee, Patient, or
Patient’s relatives.

Secondary Data

· Internet (Hospitals Website),

· Hospital Magazines

SELECTION OF TOOLS

Selection of Tools is done for the form in which data should be collected. Basically there are
two types of tools, they are:

· Questionnaire

· Observation.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Keeping in view the objective of the study, questionnaire was designed and tested on few
employees. After getting the proper response and sanction from the concerned department
the questionnaire was finalized.

Questionnaire consists of both open and close-ended questions

Page | 21
OBSERVATIONS

· All the staff responded to questionnaire positively and took part in project willingly
and smilingly.
· Jehangir Hospital is well structured and professionally managed hospital providing
quality services to the patients.
· Services are affordable to each class of society. They also have premium services like
Maharaja Bed / Rosewood.
· All staff works as a team and enjoy good interpersonal relations.
· Most staff enjoys hard work, patient’s feelings; compete with colleagues and happy
working with Jehangir Hospital. But they get involved in personal life of patients and
behave in professional manner.
· They were also rated on Nursing Unit Cultural Assessment Tool and similar
questionnaire was prepared.
· Nursing Superintendent is very particular about discipline. She has reprimanded many
staff members for absenteeism and lapses during services. Memos, show cause letter
and suitable communication is issued to staff.
· Most staff feels that they should be equipped with modern technologies and they
should be given hands on training.
· It is observed that Jehangir Hospital has employee reward system in place. They
recognize good works of employees and reward them suitably. For example, Best
Doctor on Floor Award, Infection Control Champion Badge for nurses, Best
Technician Awards, etc.
· Few employees have compared financial rewards with other industry and new
incumbents. It is suggested to Jehangir Hospital to streamline such informal
communications and gossips by appropriate appraisal systems.
· It is worth mentioning that everyone is satisfied about culture and careful about
QUALITY.

Page | 22
CONCLUSION

In order retain its leadership position in Hospital Industry I come with a conclusion that
Jehangir Hospital should augment its human resource function by improvising following
functions.

1. Inductions to all new recruits

2. Communication

3. Training and Development

4. Modern facilities and Infrastructure

5. Technology Thrust

6. Appraisal and

7. Customer Delight

Page | 23
RECOMMENDATIONS

· All hospital staff that is Doctors, Nurses, and Technicians is suggested to

communicate with each other compulsory in English language. But, while
communicating with patients and their families one can talk in Hindi or as the case
may be. Staff can talk with the patients in language which is best understood by
patients. This will ensure greater communication goals and bonding in each
transaction.
· Jehangir Hospital may check feasibility and economic viability of procuring MRI
(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) facility. At the Moment such tests are carried out
from the external sources. This way Jehangir Hospital can provide service and
diagnosis under one roof at lower cost. This will also save the unconventional cost
associated with it.
· In Pathology Laboratory Automated Tissue Processor can be installed, because
now the process is manual. It will increase the efficiencies of process and
technicians. This will ensure accurate reporting.
· All nurses should know patients name, diagnosis and medicines prescribed along
with mode and manner of administration. It was found in the study that few of the
nurses are not aware of these modalities.
· All employees should be encouraged to follow hospital protocol. Some of the
employees do not follow it. For example, before handling the patient Sterillium
should be used before touching the patient.
· All equipments should be audited at regular intervals. It is suggested that such
audits be carried out at an interval of three months. This will ensure that
equipments will function seamlessly and without any error.
· Jehangir Hospital may encourage on the job training that will help it as continuous
learning organization learn which will ensure its service goals. Such trainings can
bring about behavioral changes of staff.
