STRANGE VISITORS

Premise
Strange Visitors is a pulp/superhero table-top role-playing campaign set in a
fictionalized version of 1930s Earth. The campaign will be based out of San
Francisco. Players can make either Xenoshian or human characters.
Xenoshians: Xenoshians originally come from Xenosha, a world suffering from
ecological ruin and political turmoil. For nearly two decades a powerful
dictator has waged war on the worlds domed cities in efforts to horde the
planets dwindling resources for the benefit of his own nation. Despite brave
resistance to the dictators tyranny and violence, his victory is all but assured.
Whats worse is that his practice of purging both undesirables and his
political enemies has left many Xenoshian societies and cultures on the verge
of extinction.
Some individual Xenoshians have found hope in the person of Dr. Ivuulkus.
Although initially a member of the dictators scientific corps, Ivuulkus joined
the resistance shortly after inventing a device that can pierce through
dimensions. He then broke with the resistance when they tried to coerce him
into weaponizing this technology. Setting up his own faction, he now helps
select Xenoshians escape death at the dictators hands. He does this by using
his dimensional transporter to shunt Xenoshians to another world. Xenosha
may die, but Ivuulkus hopes that at least some of its people can live on, even if
only as transdimensional refugees. The world Ivuulkus has selected for
colonization is an obscure body in the S-K system. The inhabitants refer to it
as the planet Earth.
There are very few Xenoshians on Earth. For the most part, they try to blend
into human society and just get by, maintaining aspects of their culture in
secret for fear of being discovered and ostracized. This is made difficult by a
number of factors. First, although Xenoshians are similar in appearance to
humans, there are physiological differences. Although both races share a
similar range in skin color, Xenoshians have noticeably larger eyes, smaller
noses and smaller mouths. Their eye colors also vary wildly. Ivuulkos
obscures these phenotypical differences with cosmetic surgery before sending

Xenoshians to Earth, but he cant mask more fundamental differences.

Xenoshians give of a pheromone that smells somewhat akin to lavender, have
an internal physiology that is different from that of humans, suffer from
allergies unique to their race, and possess tastes and preferences that most
humans would consider strange. Xenoshians are also hardier and stronger
than the average human.
A second (and more dramatic) complication faced by Xenoshians on Earth is
that the process of traveling via Ivuulkos transporter imbues their bodies with
unpredictable cosmic energies that often result in random mutations. Such
mutations range from detrimental phenotypical and physiological changes to
the manifestation of powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men and
women (be they human or Xenoshian).
Humans: Human characters in Strange Visitors run the full range of pulp
adventure archetypes, from plucky reporters and hard-boiled detectives to
gizmoteers and crime-fighting mystics. The most adventurous among them
may already have some experience with weirdness, but the recent arrival of
strange visitors from Xenosha is sure to up the frequency and scale of such
encounters.
