Installation

Installation
This chapter describes installation and setup procedures for the standalone FCAT1000-N media
converter.

Internal settings, adjustment, maintenance and repairs may be performed only by a

skilled technician who is aware of the hazards involved.
Always observe standard safety precautions during installation, operation and
maintenance of this product.
The FCAT1000-N media converter is designed for standalone installation and is delivered as a fully
assembled unit.

Package Content
The FCAT1000-N package includes the following items:

One FCAT1000-N unit

Technical documentation CD

AC or DC power cords

Installing FCAT1000-N
The installation of the FCAT1000-N media converter includes the following steps,

Connecting the unit to power mains

Connecting the SC interface

Connecting the Ethernet interface

Site Requirement and prerequisites

AC-powered FCAT1000-N units should be installed within 1.5m (5 ft) of an easily-accessible grounded
AC outlet capable of furnishing the voltage in accordance with FCAT1000-N nominal supply voltage.
DC-powered FCAT1000-N units require a -36 to -72 VDC power source, which must be adequately
isolated from the main supply.
The ambient operating temperature of FCAT1000-N should be 0 to 50C, at a relative humidity of up to
90%, non-condensing.
