Introduction
1.1 Background
During my internship, the company that under is called Flexitech Sdn Bhd.
During the course of my internship in Flexitech Sdn Bhd, the companys production lines
manufacture Disposable Gloves and Cleanroom Gloves. The gloves that are produced in
Flexitech are normally differentiated by the number of chlorination dipping of the gloves
produces which are classified into single chlorine dipping (OSC) or double chlorine dipping
(ODC). The chlorine dipping process is a substitution process which chlorine substitutes
protein functional group with the natural rubber or synthetic rubber where the surface of the
latex. All glove that were produce for disposable gloves and cleanroom gloves are OSC
glove where the inner side of the glove is smooth so that glove can be easily wear by
consumers. The difference between the cleanroom gloves and disposal gloves is where the
Cleanroom Gloves undergoes a second chlorination process (ODC process) where chlorine is
use to smoothen the outer surface of the gloves. The purpose of smooth surface for the
cleanroom gloves is to ensure and prevent that particles lodge and adsorb towards the
smooth glove outer surface during the packaging of the cleanroom gloves as particles are
known to contaminate healthcare/semiconductor sector.
