Junior Program

For many years the Highland Country Club Junior Golf Program has
provided our Juniors with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the
game of golf from trained PGA of Canada Golf Professionals. We pride
ourselves in the overall development of all our Juniors and have had a
number of them become golf professionals, attend American and Canadian
universities on golf scholarships, and become very successful in the business
world.
Again this season, our program consists of a variety of instructional
sessions, special events and golf tournaments designed for all our Junior
Members to learn and compete in a safe and fun environment.
To keep up to date with the Junior events we remind you to watch the Junior
bulletin board located outside the backshop area. This is where all signup
sheets and special notices for Juniors will be posted.
The attached is an outline of our program. Should you have any questions
or wish to register for any of the events please feel free to contact the
Professional Shop to discuss the program in greater detail.

GOLF COURSE DRESS CODE

It is very important that all members are aware of the dress code policy as it
applies to the golf course. In general appropriate dress is required. Our
Junior golfers must also always abide by the dress code as outlined below.
Members who bring guests to golf at Highland should communicate our
dress code policy to their guests to avoid any potential embarrassment.
Women
- Tailored golf-style shirts with collar or sleeves or both may be worn
with slacks, golf shorts or skirts.
- Golf skirts, shorts and skorts are to be an appropriately tailored variety
with an outseam of not less than 17 or be no shorter than 4 above
the knee.
- Golf dresses must be no shorter than 4 above the knee.
- Quarter socks or sockettes must be worn with either skirts or shorts.
Men
- No T-shirts. Only authentic mock shirts are allowed. All other shirts
must have collars.
- All shirts must be tucked in. There are no exceptions.
- Slacks should be tailored and shorts must be no shorter than 2 above
the knee.
- Knee socks, quarter socks or sockettes must be worn with shorts.
(Socks may not be rolled down).
Not Permitted - (Men and Women)
- Denim clothing of any colour.
- Sweat pants/Track pants
- Golf sandals
- Metal spikes
- Cargo pants/Shorts
- Athletic socks
- Halter tops/Tank tops

Junior Opening Field Day & Luncheon

Date: Saturday, May 9th, 2015
Lunch: 12:00 Noon
(Parents are welcome for lunch. The cost for parents will be
approximately $10.00 + tax per parent)
Golf: 2:00 p.m. tee time
Format: The day will begin with a light lunch followed by a brief
presentation outlining this seasons Junior Golf Program. Starting at 2:00
p.m. we will be joined by the Professional Shop Team and we will play a 9
hole team scramble.

Tiny Tots Program

Dates: Sunday, May 24th, 31st, June 7th & 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Participants: Juniors age 4 to 7 (One parent per child)
Cost: $60.00 + HST
Instruction: Basic instruction, cart rides, prizes, and treats for the children
Instructors: Rick Pero, Zak Thorup
Sign up: Professional Shop but sign up quickly as space is limited.

Note: A parent must drive the cart containing their child.

HIGHLAND JUNIOR GOLF ACADEMY

** NEW for 2015 **
The Professional Shop Team is looking to enhance the instructional
component of our Junior Golf Program. This year we are going to offer a
program (a minimum of two days per week) to all our Junior Golfers ages 8
to 18. This program will emphasize fun and participation. Time will be
spent with our professional staff on the practice area as well as on the golf
course. The program will run throughout the entire golf season with dates
being selected by consensus with our participants.
Recognizing that our Juniors are at different levels of competitiveness and
skill, we will be looking to group our participants based on their current
level of these qualities as well as the level of play they wish to attain. They
will be encouraged to participate in all of the current Junior events that
Highland Country Club presently offers and will be tasked each week with a
variety of assignments to promote their development.
We are very excited about this new program and welcome everyone who is
interested to join us for an information session in the clubhouse on Tuesday,
April 7th @ 7:00 p.m. or to call the Pro Shop to register and gather more
information. The cost of the program will be $50 + HST per person

Summer Junior School

Dates: June 29th, 30th, July 2nd and 3rd (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
Times: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Note: Supervision from 8 to 9 am and 3 to 5 pm is available.
For: Junior members and guests (ages 8 to 13)
Cost:
Full Day: $180.00 + HST (includes lunch & snacks daily plus special
camp gift)
Half Day: $110.00 + HST (9:00 a.m. to 12 noon; includes special
camp gift but lunch is not included)
Juniors will receive instruction in the techniques of golf, be taught the
etiquette of golf and be made aware of the rules of golf, plus be involved in
other fun camp activities.

Highland Junior Invitational (Tyson Tour Event)

Date: Monday, July 20th
Eligibility: Any Juniors (Ages 12 to 18)
Cost: $40.00 + HST (includes Lunch and Prizes)

Format: 18 Hole Stroke Play event with 4 divisions;
Bantams 12 and 13
Juveniles 14 to 16

Monday Morning Junior Program

Dates:
Mondays - June 29th, July 6th, July 13th, August 24th, August 31st and
Thursdays - August 6th, August 13th
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Ages 12 to 18 - off the Front Nine
8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (adult supervision is required)
Ages 8 to 11 - off the Back Nine
Players must sign up in advance outside the Pro Shop. Please sign up
or call the Pro Shop by 5:00 p.m. the day prior because the draw will
be made for the next morning at that time.
Cost: Complimentary
Format: FedEx Cup format with points each week. 4 different divisions
based on age. Accumulated total throughout the year. Top 3 in each division
win prizes at the end of the year.

Pre-Junior (8 to 11)

Eligibility: All Junior & Pre-Junior members (adult supervision is required
for Pre-Juniors)
Cost: Complimentary
Prizes: Dinner and awards following the Sunday round (August 16th)

Location: On the range at 1:00 p.m.
Eligibility: All Junior members 12 to 18 years of age.

Date: Sunday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m.
Eligibility: All Junior members age 12 to 18 and all adult members

Junior Nash Cup

Host: London Hunt Club
Open to: The top six finishers from the Junior Club Championship
Format: Inter-club matches versus London Hunt Club & Sunningdale Golf
and Country Club.
