Mr. Stankiwicz toured
across the USA with the Artie Shaw
Orchestra and played with many
notable jazz musicians including Art
Farmer, Scott Hamilton, Sheila Jordan
and Harvie Schwartz. He was a recipient of the Oscar Peterson Award and
semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk
International Jazz Piano Competition in
Washington, DC. He studied at Berklee
College of Music - the largest independent college of contemporary music in the

Audubon International presents honor

for Dretzka Park Golf Course
Audubon International has awarded
Dretzka Park Golf Course the Certified
Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation.
The course is one of only three in the state to
receive the certification.
Id like to thank Audubon International for
recognizing our achievements in environmental
stewardship at Dretzka Park, said Milwaukee
County Executive Chris Abele. The efforts that
led to receiving this certification are a great
example of hardworking Milwaukee County
employees engaging in strategic, big-picture
efforts. Not only does this demonstrate our continual commitment to environmental sustainability, this work also makes our parks more enjoyable for the people of Milwaukee County.
Leading the effort to obtain the certification
was Mike Stein, Golf Course Superintendent,
with assistance from Natural Areas Coordinator
Brian Russart and his staff.
To meet the certification requirements,
Dretzka demonstrated its practices in six environmental categories.
Environmental Planning was documented
in a 10-year restoration and management plan
which considers all ecological activities.
Wildlife and Habitat Management was
shown through staff surveys of ephemeral
aquatic invertebrates (such as crayfish), and
aquatic invasive plant species.
Outreach and Education was proven
through the bluebird trail created in association

with the Bluebird Restoration Association of

Wisconsin, surveys conducted with elementaryschool children, and a planned demonstration
area of honeybees as pollinators. The educational component extends to the clubhouse
where a tree cookie shows the effect of Emerald
Ash Borer, and the bar surface is constructed
from a tree removed due to the effects of
Emerald Ash Borer.
Turf Management was demonstrated
through the use of integrated pest management.
Water Conservation was exemplified by
the practice of using as little water as possible to
offer quality turf. This includes localized watering of dry areas. The course is also in the
process of planting all native species around the
clubhouse. Native species tolerate the states
varied weather conditions.
Water-quality Management was demonstrated through staffs taking baseline surveys of
dissolved oxygen, nutrients, and stream flow.
Stein said, Ive always been close to
nature. Its nice to be able to provide golfers
with the experience of being in an urban area
and seeing deer, wild turkey, Coopers hawk
and other wildlife sharing the course.
To maintain the sanctuary designation, a
course must recertify every three years to ensure
it is upholding certification standards.

Milwaukee Rep garage sale May 2

Back by popular demand, Milwaukee
Repertory Theater will hold its annual Endof-Season Garage Saleon Saturday, May
2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Reps
Costume, Prop and Production Departments
have combed through their storage spaces
putting aside clothing, shoes, costume
accessories, lots and lots of hats, furniture,
light fixtures, set dressing, scenic elements,
and a plethora of unique treasures for sale.
Some highlights of this years sale
include: dance props, furniture, and
Coalhouse Walkers rolling piano from
Ragtime; storefront signs and the African
shield dance props from The Color Purple;
hand puppets from Forever Plaid; the button-tufted Chesterfield couch from Cabaret;

a huge photographic Chicago backdrop

from A Raisin In the Sun; and a whole
wild boar from King Lear. Additional items
include gently used pieces of furniture,
glassware, fabric items, a purely decorative
suit of armor, and other props and set decoration which will be priced moderately.
The Reps Costume Department will also
be putting items out for sale, including both
collectable period costumes and contemporary fashions. The End-of-Season Garage

My crowned tooth, #19 has broken to the gum line almost 2
months ago. I have been researching dental implants since my
current dentist doesnt do implants. During this time I learned
about the AAID, which seems to have members serious about
implants. I obtained your name through the AAID American
Academy of Implant Dentistrys website.
I am of course researching price but also products and
procedures. I enclosed a digital x-ray of my broken tooth for you
to evaluate.
Everyplace I've gone to has indicated the need for bone grafting
and then the rest of the implant procedure. I've gone to an oral
surgeon and a periodontal specialist who both leave the crown for
the dentist to complete. I noticed on your website that you do the
surgery and the chimney and crown placement. Can you give me
the products you use and associated fees? Thank you in advance

Dear Kathy, I am sorry you broke your tooth and am happy you
are doing some research to become well informed.
The x-ray you sent only shows me part of the story. I need to see
the opposing tooth, your biting scheme and the width of the bone
that is left around the root. I also need to see your remaining teeth
to make sure they arent having issues.
The answers you have been give are all accurate. Usually we take
the root out and graft the area with bone. This will help preserve
the dimension of bone in the area prior to placement of your
implant. Your insurance, if you have any is usually able to help
with the extraction cost but will often not cover the cost of socket
grafting or implant placement.
The implant, chimney and crown costs depend on the labs we
use and I offer two different implant systems which both work
fabulously if patients are in need of a lesser expensive option.
I use microscopic dental labs that spend a lot of time making
the implant chimney and crown according to my specifications.
Chimneys or abutments can be pre-made sometimes and at other
times a custom abutment may be needed to provide better
contours, support and strength for an implant crown.
If a patient has a budget that will determine what they do we
can make arrangements to use less expensive labs to meet their
needs. The concept of Upgradeable Dentistry that Dr. Winter
lectures about describes how we try and provide the implant
service, denture service or reconstruction service that meets your
budget and your cosmetic needs. There is a difference in what you
receive when you utilize master dental ceramists versus using a
larger volume dental lab.

your remaining bone, I can not give you fees but I can offer you

and to take risks. To step outside their comfort
zones," said Jazelynn Goudy, one of this
year's performers. "It's OK if you don't have
the best technique, if you don't have any
experience with a certain kind of dance. Be
open to other ways of dancing; it will add to
your repertoire and make you more open to
differences."
Octavius Bolton, senior sport management major from Milwaukee, Wis., was
among a group of Culver-Stockton College
students that had the opportunity to gain real
world experience through working the 78th
Annual Buffalo Funds - NAIA Division I Men's
Basketball National Tournament in Kansas
City, March 18-22. While there students
gained experience with marketing, promotions, and time management.
Culver-Stockton College, located in
Canton, Mo., is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ). C-SC specializes in experiential education and is one of only two colleges in the nation to offer the 12/3 semester
calendar, where the typical 15 week semester
is divided into two terms, a 12-week term and
a 3-week term.
The C-SC Wildcats are members of the
Heart of America Athletic Conference
(HAAC) and the National Association of

indoor instructional component of the program will go on no matter what the weather; the outdoor component is dependent
upon the weather. Clinics begin on the
hour, with the last clinic starting at 2 p.m.
In addition to the basic clinic, cleaning
and cooking the catch will be demonstrated at five of the parks. The parks are
Brown Deer, McGovern, Mitchell, Scout
Lake, and Wilson.
Children age 6 and under must be
accompanied by an adult. Parents are
reminded to dress their children in warm
layers.
Pre-registration is not required for fam-

ilies, but groups of 20 or more are asked

to contact the DNR.
