"Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning The meaning of which is putting together
technology into teaching and learning so that these will become one in learners education. To specifyfocused on introducing, reinforcing, supplementing, and extending the knowledge and skills to learners so
that they can become exemplary users of educational technology.
Computers can be a tutor. With the use of the internet, there's a lot of information that can be
absorbed. Computer is one of the important things nowadays because it is very useful to the students.
However, computers, eventhough they can be a tutor, they cannot replace the role of the teacher. Teachers
can adjust to the new curriculum, computers must be enhanced to adjust to the new curriculum. In the
future, we shall see the computer in schools as a common tool for enhancement of the student's thinking,
communication and collaboration skills. Computers will become an integral component of the future
classroom and not a mere machine that can deliver routine drills and exercises.
In the classroom the teacher is the person who is responsible for the learning process to take place. He
follows a set of instructions and objectives on how it should be done. Sometimes, students cannot keep up
with the classroom activities especially if classes are large and individual attention cannot be given to each
one. This is where the computer is put to good use. It acts as a classroom tutor wherein it helps the
student keep pace with the learning process taking the place of the teacher when further instruction or
activities needed. This is known as computer-assisted instruction. However, educators must provide the

proper technological facilities and include the needed skills to be given to students so the can fully utilize
the use of the computer to help them learn their lessons by themselves.
Computers serve a vital role in education. As it is integrated in the teaching-learning process,
learning becomes more meaningful. A teacher uses computers to make their student become creative in
making their portfolios, reports and etc. But it doesn't mean that this computers would replace the role of
the teachers. Even though the computers can give instant information to the students still teachers are the
one that could touch the life of every student.
Computers can serve as a tutor in to the students but still the teachers are the one who give
instructions in such activities he want to give to his learners. There are a lot of Computer Assisted
Instruction software that can be used by the teacher in giving the students an activity but still teachers need
to consider a lot of things. He must ensure that learners have already the knowledge on how to use
computer. The teacher must consider the objectives of the activities and they must check the learning
outcomes of the students as sort of evaluation.
It is true that computers really succeeded in providing an individualized learning environment because
we all know that teachers has difficulties in dealing with the class having 60 students or more. Computers
allow the learners to learn by their own pace, motivate learning through a challenging virtual learning
environment. Computers assist students through information needed during the learning process, evaluate
student responses through immediate feedback and also give the total score to evaluate the student's total
performance.

ISSUES
Computers have become commonplace in the classroom, at least in some classes. One problem is
students' vulnerability to the distractions that computers provide. It can be incredibly difficult for teachers to
monitor all the students, and some may play games or surfing the web instead of focusing on the work at
hand. It is very common in public school that student do not directly go home instead they are with friend
playing Dota and SF which are the very attractive games to the students that result to failed to go to school
as well as the performance in the class discussion.

REFLECTION
Teacher must engage to the computer that explaining the student the good purpose of the
computer not for playing or as part of their daily activities which id play games. We all know that computer
can play the role of tutor in nearly any classroom. Teachers have only so much time on their hands, and
even the most student-oriented teachers can leave children behind. One way to close this gap is to use the
computer as a tutor. Many lessons, instructions and problem-solving materials are available on the
web.One concern with computers is that they can reduce learning demands on students.

With access to the web comes millions of pieces of information, many of which contain answers to
common problems from school. Students can use computers to do less work or even to cheat. The
computer can be a tutor in effect relieving the teacher of many activities in his personal role as classroom
tutor. It should be made clear, however, that the computer cannot totally replace the teacher since the
teacher shall continue to play the major roles of information deliverer and learning environment controller.

DISCUSSION
1. Do you believe CAI in some future time can replace teachers in a classroom?
No, I dont believe that CAI can replace teachers in a classroom in some future time.
Because as what Ive said, computers can never replace a man especially, a teacher. Computer
cant respond to the needs of the learners both physically and mentally. Teachers are still best for a
classroom. CAI can only provide some knowledge that a learners needs but teacher is the best I
fulfilling the needs of a learner
2. Since it is admitted that CAI relates to lower learning skills (behaviorist and cognitivist learning),
what grade levels would CAI drill-and-practice software materials be useful? Do you think those in
college will still want drill-and-practice learning activities that provide plain memorization
(behaviorism) and brain processing like a mere computer (cognitivism)?
It could be in Grade VI levels since they have enough knowledge and they have more
retention to computer than in the lower grades.
3. What problem can be encountered if a school (such as in poor countries) cannot afford to provide
enough computers to students? Will CAI work at all with a whole school using single computer?
The problem that can be encountered by poor countries if they cant afford enough
computers perhaps the students in that certain country will be having a difficult in coping up about
information on how to use and manipulate computers and so that this poor countries have no ability
to produce a globally competitive students in terms of computers. I think CAI will still work but it will
not enough and perhaps it will contain poor quality when it integrates in education.
4. What can the school neighborhood community or non government organizations do to put public
schools on a fast track for the integration of technology in public education?
Computers can fast track the lessons.

DISCUSSION

1. Many software materials available in developed countries are not yet available in developing
countries. Do you think awareness of the existence of these materials can still help teachers in
developing countries?
Yes, it can still help teachers in developing countries but still they should not only aware,
but also these software materials must be available also in those countries to help better the
teachers.
2. Students play games at home and nearby school computer cafes. How do these games differ from
instructional computer games?
Games that are being played at home and nearby school and nearby school computer
cafes are differ from instructional computer games because this games which are being played at
home are not instructional already because as we play it every day, it will store already in your
mind and as if it already registered that every time you play those game, you know already what is
the first thing to do. And this game has no direct instruction to follow. While instructional games,
you have to follow specific instructions.
3. Discuss the difficulties of using software: number of school computers available, need to evaluate
these software materials, need to find ways to integrate them into lessons/ curriculum. How
futuristic are computers as tutors in our Philippine educational scenario?
When a school has lack of this kind of software, teachers will get difficult to integrate with
the learner the ICT and of course if we are planning to use software in our classroom, we should
conduct first a deep evaluation on the software that we are going to use to avoid unnecessary
accidents when we are using it. And as a future teacher, we should know how are these software
integrates with our lesson. It should not be integrate without a plan. Because we should integrate
this kind of software base on our lesson objective. We should find or use appropriate software in
our lesson to meet your target lesson objective. We are not using software just to consume time
rather we use it to motivate our learners to target also their own learning objective.
