PERSONAL COACHING STATEMENT


My current VISION of and STRENGTHS as an instructional technology coach is .I embrace the Seven Partnership Principles and believe that I already possess
at least the beginnings of those qualities. I am deeply committed to equality, choice, voice, reflection, and dialogue, as well as putting knowledge and
skills into practice and taking every opportunity to learn. As an example, I am mentoring two newer school librarians. When we meet, I take notes on
ideas that have that I want to try.
I am the technology liaison person for my building and often have the chance to help teachers what I have learned from the guys. Gradually I pick up new
knowledge from everyone and use it to help everyone. My vision of the future reveals me moving deeper into technology, into the principles of good
coaching, and into productive interpersonal relationships with my colleagues. I must find ways to expand my usefulness, from the technical to the
instructional integration. To do this I will first need to move my own teaching up the SAMR model to the modification and redefinition levels.

OUTLINE how you will

As the librarian I
already have strong
lines of communication
open, and teachers
think of me as a
resource. I need to
build on these
relationships first to
discover needs - and
then to think creatively
about better solutions.

This course is my preparation, as


no other workshop or course has
been. I am hoping to take other
online courses through Coursera or
Mooc-Ed.

The core resources of this


course are very helpful. I
also search Twitter for more
personal PD, and follow such
experts as Richard Byrne,
#mtedchat, and #mindshift.
These sources often lead to
further reading in journals
and papers I would not
otherwise find on my own.

One evidence of learning: I am


already planning a presentation
for colleagues.

In regard to preparation, I participate in


our district-wide implementation of
PLCs where we share and learn from
one another. As librarians, we are
always considering how we can
collaborate and help others so that
learning and instruction can move to
higher levels. It is a never-ending
struggle to move up.

The evidence I need to see is the


deepening of my own teaching and
collaboration.

I have spoken to my librarian colleagues


about using the TPACK and SAMR
frameworks to help teachers. They are
interested!

I discovered that I have done all the basic level strategies: starting with the digital tool, substitution, augmentation, and some modification. I find myself reflecting on ways to
move up to redirection (still looking at game-based learning and am a firm believer in project-based learning.)

Unit 5 Deep Reflection | What was the most challenging part of coaching Digital Citizenship for you ?
Our loss of privacy is the most challenging thing to accept unless we decide to live off the grid and there are those who do that we have no privacy anymore. But through
this course I have learned that I can at least manage (to some extent) what goes online. I do feel the urgent need to alert students and teachers to the reality of their digital
footprint. This is so crucial going forward.

To prepare I would do more


exploration an extension of the
work done here. And to help my
colleagues I must stay in touch to
see their needs.

I spent more time with the


Vincent Evaluation for Apps than
the others and started a Google
Form to use with it. That might
be the way to get teachers to
implement the rubric.

I will know I have progressed when I


have helped a colleague evaluate an
app or website. Teaching students to
evaluate website is also part of what
I do.

Unit 6 Deep Reflection | Have you changed any ideas you used to have on how to vet resources?
Yes I will be using Vincents App Rubric or the Educational App Evaluation Checklist to start. These are more detailed and more focused than evaluation checklists I have
been using. If I had used these, especially the Educational App Evaluation Checklist, to evaluate Fakebook and truly tried out this app according to those guidelines, I would
have looked for other, similar but easier apps. My recommendations to others will be better targeted, as well.

PERSONAL Coaching Statement REVISITED | How has your personal coaching vision evolved from your initial thoughts in Week/Unit One?
My reflection statement for Unit One did not really answer the question. I was thinking about how to coach myself! The change for me is that now helping others through
coaching seems possible. As an elementary school librarian, I am a peer, not a coach; I have to find gentle 1:1 way to help. Now I have better tools to do just that.
