INTRODUCTION
In 1931, the company made history with the first installation of domestically produced
pressure rapid filtration equipment for municipal water systems in Japan. Since then, they
have been supporting people's lives and the environment as a pioneer in the design,
construction, maintenance and operation of infrastructure facilities for water and the
environment, contributing to society through water, the source of all life. The new company
name "Swing" is a creative combination of sui ( or water) and ing. Building a better future
with various solutions for sustainable water and the environment, that's their steady goal and
mission. The company was incorporated on April 1, 1977. Swing Corp. aims to parlay each
company's strengths into a stronger business platform for Swing in Japan and further
expansion in the global market for water business. Swing has engineering expertise in water
business, and has built up know-how and a Japanese network in the operation and
maintenance (O&M) of water supply and sewage systems, business management and
financing, engineering and project management.

CASE STUDY - SWING WATER SDN. BHD. PROJECT IN,

SITIAWAN, PERAK
This is the construction of a biogas harvesting system built in Kilang Kelapa Sawit Lekir,
Sitiawan constructed by Eikobina Sdn. Bhd. The facility is being built to harvest biogas from
the waste produced from the processing of palm oil. I visited this project during my
internship period to conduct the Field Density Test (FDT) for the earth embankment that
surrounds the two ponds where the waste will be collected and stored. Some of the
mechanical equipment for the biogas harvesting is imported from Germany.

CONCLUSION
This company is an established environmental and waste management company dealing with
industrial and domestic waste water. As a leading Japanese company, the Malaysian branch is
currently active in projects at palm oil mills, domestic wastewater treatment facilities and
other heavy metal waste treatment facilities around Malaysia. The companys core business
clearly involves Civil engineering as portrayed in their list of activities and products. The
advanced technology that is introduced and utilised by this company provides a strong
platform for Civil engineering graduates to get in touch and work on environmental
engineering projects together with Mechanical engineers as the equipment are mechanically
run. The best of both worlds concepts of this company is a great selling point and attraction
for employment in this field. It would be a great company to start a career in and learn for
career advancement and personal progress.
