NARRATIVE REPORT

February 21, 2015

This day was the third meeting for the month of February. In this day Im so very much
excited because finally I will go to see again the one of my favorite student. Her named was
Gemalyn. I arrived early in the school. But I was shocked because as I entered to the gate, one of
the jeeps was already gone.
When we reached St. Cruz, I saw the other student waiting for us at the basketball court.
And when I out of the jeep, I immediately looked my group but sadly I didnt found them.
Because one of my co-groups was late. Our instructor instructs to us that half of our group
member must teach to the children and the other half our group will assign to plant a seed on the
backyard of the family we are assessing. So I and Janalle decided to plant a seed in the backyard.
I brought a seeds like the seed of ampalaya and sitaw. This will serve as our project or a basis
if we really did our task. And before we proceed to our designated assigned area, Sir Richard
Tugade said to us that he will check whether the outcome that we will do is nice. Then after of
this, I and my co-group precede immediately to the house of our assigned family. Then we asked
them if they have a gulok. Then they said that they have. Then, we proceed to start making a
garden. But first, we decided to clean their backyard because there have so much grass. But were
so bless because there was a one girl and two criminology students who helped us.
After we finished making a garden, criminology student told to us that we will get some
water to make the soil wheat so that we will be easy to plant and the seed that we will plant will
grow faster. We helped each other. And after we planted seeds, the two boys get a wood and cuter
it to some pieces. While we were at work, we didnt felt the tiredness because while we were
working in the middle of the hot temperature of the day, we shared laughs. We shared jokes and
we also sharing the experience that we were experiencing in the school. And after that, we rest
for a while. And after relaxing, we went again to the garden that we were making and continue
again on what we are doing. The one girl of the criminology students was taking a picture to us.
And of course, I fixed myself so that the outcome of the picture will be good to see. And while
she taking a picture, the one student of criminology swept the backyard. And upon watching him,
Im so impressed because I didnt expect how industrious he is. Imagine even he is not part of
our group, he helped us. Then after of that, after long long hours, we finished our garden. And
then we realized that this kind of a work was not easy to do. Yes, we were all tired but its ok for
us because we enjoyed planting. We enjoyed the things that we do. And for me it is one of the
most enjoying moments that we experienced. And it was good to feel that we helped others life.
At least even in a simple way, we did a one thing that other can helped their lives.
And after we finished our work, I and Janalle and also together with the Criminology
student was decided to take a snack. Then we decided to go to the other students. And upon
watching them, not in my purpose I was smiling. Because it is nice to see that they were enjoying
the activities that my fellow classmates conducted. Some of my classmates read a story to the
children. And I, while they were telling stories, I listened also. My classmate was so good in
telling a story. And the children were very happy on this day because of the prizes that they were

given. They gave foods as their reward in participating the different activities that they
conducted. The children were attentively participating in the game.
And after that, Sir Tugade told to us that its already a time. So we decided to go back to
the jeep. This day was enjoyable. And it is a moment to remember.

February 28, 2015

This day was the last day of our meeting for the month of February. And Sir Richard
Tugade, our instructor told us to stay and proceed at the Audio Visual Room (AVR) at Our Lady
of the Pillar-San Manuel Campus (OLPCC) for re-orientation. So all of the students gathered at
the AVR as Sir Richard instructed us. When we reached there, we find seats that will be
comfortable to us.
He explained what we are about to do for our final requirement for the finals. He told to
us our final requirement for this final was to make our narrative report about our community
Immersion at Sta. Cruz.
Sir Richard Tugade explained the right format of our narrative report. He gave us a
sample to see the right fonts. And I take notes all the things that he said. So that when I started to
do my narrative report, it will be easy to me if what will I going to do and to avoid questioning
my classmates if what is the right thing to do. He said that we should do it right because he will
be choosing a one good narrative report and he will pass it to the Department of Education
(DepEd). Sir Richard said that he will only sign our clearance if we will be able to pass our
requirement and as like what I said we must pass the requirement.
Our narrative report should contain an introduction, table of content, our narrative reports
about our community immersion at Sta. Cruz, pictures with captions and our reflection or
learning. And he also said that, the more picture the group present, the higher grade that he will
be given to us.
Our narrative report should be numbered each page from i-for the table of contents; ii-for
the introduction and numbers 1, 2, 3 for our narrative reports on what we had done during our
community service until our reflection. The font style of our narrative should be in Times new
Romans and its font size should be 12. And it should be 1.25 line spacing. And for the pictures
with captions, there should be six wallet size pictures in a one bond paper. And for our reflection,
Sir Richard Tugade told to us that we can either to write tagalog or tag-lish but he reminded us
that if we write tagalog, it should be in quotation. And after he told to us if what we were going
to do, I felt so very nervous. And I do not if all the things that he told to us will be properly
follow. But I will try my best so that I will get a high grade to him.
Sir Richard reminded us that all the students must to pay for our fund for our bahay-kubo
project. Sir Richard said that two of our classmates will donate a garden soil for the surrounding
of our bahay-kubo. The garden soil will be used for planting plants around the bahay-kubo to
make it beautiful. He said that a student who will not pay the fund, Sir Richard will not sign their
clearance. And that time, I was so worried because I didnt pay yet. And I admit, I was angry on
that time because it will be added again to my problem. And I was afraid to tell again to my sister
that I have another project to be pay. I do not know how I can explain to her. So, I decided to
keep my money that my sister gave to me as my allowance in one week. And I need to sacrifice
not to take my snack daily. I need to help my sister. Because I saw to her face how hard to budget
her money in order to give all the things that I need to the school.

After our re-orientation, he dismissed us. But he requested that the officers of the NSTP
to have a meeting regarding to our fund that we must pay. And they went immediately to the
Student Personnel Office or on what we called as SPS. And after this we decided to go home.

MARCH 7, 2015
This was the first meeting of the NSTP students of March. We went to school for our
community immersion. While waiting for the time, Sir Melvin Bustoba, the adviser of the
Education said to us that the second years and the fourth years were to come at Sta. Cruz to show
if what some techniques in teaching kids.
When we reached Sta. Cruz, we saw again another children waiting at the basketball
court. As Sir Bustoba had pleased us, we went to our designated assigned place. Some of our
classmates brought the children at the court and gathered them all there. The second year and
fourth year students of OLPCC instructed all the children to form small straight lines. And the
children obediently obeyed the instructions of the second years and fourth years students.
Before they were to start their teaching, the second years started it with warm-up action
songs. And I was so amazed because they are not the type of person who shies. I admired them
so much and I saw that all the children were smiling. They were enjoying the second years and
fourth years company. And they first sung the song ako si Takuri. And I was so happy because
it is one of my favorite songs for kids. And the children were so very actively. After the first
song, they also sung another song and entitled kung ikaw ay Masaya. And even the fourth
years student didnt know the steps, they find a way so that the children will not able to be bored.
And while they were performing it, not in my intention, I didnt control my feelings, I was
already dancing too. The children were enjoying their warm-up songs. And I, were enjoying too
seeing them happy.
After their warm-up songs, the second years and fourth years divided into many groups
and they also divided the children. And after settling, each group brought out some story books.
They started to tell different stories.
While each group of the second years and fourth years were telling stories, we roam
around to see each groups technique in teaching and telling stories to the children.
Some techniques that I saw were, in telling stories to children our voice should jive to the
story. And when pronouncing the word, you should say it in a lively voice so that your listener
will not be bored. If the story is a happy story, our voice should also be happy. Another was, to
catch the attention of the children; our eyes should be fixed on them. We must have an eye to eye
contact to them. We should also be funny sometimes in order that the children will not be bored.
While the fourth year students telling different stories, I listened attentively. And one of
my favorite stories is the story of the baker and the fairy and the story of langgam and
tipaklong. The lesson that I learned to this was, you must share the things that you have to those
person who need it. You must not be selfish.
After telling the story, all of the groups alternated with each other to tell another story to
the children. While the OLPCC students were telling different stories, the children were happy in
listening to different stories and some were amazed by how each group made their materials
more creative. And I was amazed also because I do not know what they did to their story books. I
also observed that each story told by each group, the story leaves a lesson for the children.

After the storytelling, the second years and fourth years had a feeding. They fed all the
children at Sta. Cruz. After our activities, sir Bustoba instructed us to go back to school and go
home because it was already time.

MARCH 14, 2015

This day was the last day of our community immersion at Sta. Cruz. And it only means
that we were not longer to see again those children who have live at barangay Sta Cruz. Sir
Richard already instructed us that we will not stay at Sta. Cruz for a long time. We might just
stay there for 30 minutes-1 hour to say goodbyes for the family and the children we assessed.
Our group decided to bring noodles for the family. I felt sad because after this immersion,
we will not meet the children again. I didnt meet Gemalyn again. But I also felt happy because
we did our best during our community immersion and we gave our best for the children we were
teaching for almost three months in every Saturday.
When we reached Sta. Cruz, we went immediately to the family we were assessing as
what Sir Tugade instructed us. We went to the family of Parallag. I was happy to see again the
children, most especially Gemalyn. Before we were to depart our ways, my co-group Noemi and
Kizzie told a story to the children for memory. And while telling the story, I observed that
children were listening to them. They translated the story to Ilocano for them able to
understand the story. And I and Janalle talk to nanay Elena why Gemalyn didnt went to the
school. And she answered to us that even how much she like that Gemalyn went to the school,
she cant! Gemalyns sick. When she over exposed to the sun, she got collapsed and her mouth
bubbling.
After that, we sung the alphabet song. We sung it happily and feel the few minutes that
we shared together. After that, we also sang the song we taught them and that is entitled as Ako
si Takuri. And as one of their little teacher, I demonstrated to them if what was the proper steps
to do. So even I was shy a little bit, I demonstrated to them on how to dance that song. I danced
even some of the criminology students seeing at me. And after that, we were all laughed. My cogroup was laugh because we realized that it is parang baliw. We felt so embarrass that time
because some of the people who lived in the Sta. Cruz were laughing. They saw if what we were
done. But its ok, because it was so enjoyable. I felt so very happy in this day because for the
first time, they were all participating. Gemalyn did also if what I did. When I danced the ako si
takuri she also danced. And when I dance the steps of elephant she also does it. I t is nice to
the feeling that she finally participating to the activities that we conducted. And after that, our
group mates decided to give the things that we bought for them. And after that, we gave to them
the story books that we bought. We gave them story books as their prize in singing and in doing
the activities we told them to do. And while giving their prizes, we instructed them to read those
story books. And when they received their prizes, they were all very happy.
After that, I and Janalle visit our garden to check our plants if it was alive. And we were
happy to see that our plants that we planted before were alive. We decided to water our plant. But
nanay Elena said to us that it was already watered by her husband early in the morning.

After that, we say final goodbyes to the family that we assigned. I felt so emotional
because I can no longer see the family of Parallag. This family changed me!
And after that, Sir Tugade instructed us that we must immediately go to the church. And
when we reached the school, we instructed the driver of the jeep that he will put his jeep in front
of the church. And we, Teacher of Education, went to the church that Sir Richard assigned to us.
Some of my classmates cleaned the altar. But I and my classmate Liwliwa(my bestfriend)
decided to pray first because after our NSTP we will have a make-up class to our major which is
Astronomy and were going to take a long long quiz. And after a few minutes, I and Liwliwa
decided to help my classmates. We clean the chairs of the church. After that, Sir Richard
dismissed us early and we decided to go home.
