PROCEDURE

Preamble:

As with all types of machine maintenance this procedure


should only be carried out by trained personnel. Serious injury or
machine damage could occur from improper removal of or
reinstallation of components, as well as from improper work
methods. Before initiating removal of components, during
cleaning and at reassembly of injection unit proper safety
equipment including safety glasses and heat resistant gloves
should be worn at all times. Also as a safety precaution the
machine to be maintained should have a caution marker within
close proximity to indicate machine is under maintenance and all
personnel should use caution when working on or around
machines being maintained.

7.1

Cordon off a sufficient area around the Machine to ensure no particulate matter
released from the cleaning shall come in contact with any other material or process
that may be adjacent. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE INSIDE THE CORDONED
AREA EXCEPT AUTHORIZED MAINTAINANCE PERSONNEL. DO NOT
ALLOW ANYTHING INSIDE THE CORDONED AREA EXECPT CLEANING
MATERIAL / TOOLS.

Purge Screw and Barrel using appropriate purging material.

If dissimilar materials or other conditions require a manual scrub of the Screw and
Barrel, proceed with the detailed instructions below: (if not, proceed to step 7.6)

Be sure to have the barrel, screw and hopper (as required) inspected by the
Quality Techs BEFORE reassembly
