Nisar.Ahmad, Hina.Faza, and Muhammad. Ayaz, Bilal Haider Abbasi, The main objective of the
current study is to investigate the potential of Carica papaya leaves extracts against Dengue
fever in 45 year old patient bitten by carrier mosquitoes. For the treatment of Dengue fever the
extract was prepared in water. 25 mL of aqueous extract of C. papaya leaves was administered
to patient infected with Dengue fever twice daily i.e. morning and evening for five consecutive
days. Before the extract administration the blood samples from patient were analyzed. Platelets
count (PLT),

Patients with Dengue Fever and Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (Volume2013(2013),ArticleID616737,7
pageshttp://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/616737) According to Soobitha Subenthiran, Tan Chwee Choon,
Kee Chee Cheong, Ravindran Thayan, The study was conducted to investigate the platelet increasing
property of Carica papaya leaves juice (CPLJ) in patients with dengue fever (DF). An open labelled
randomized controlled trial was carried out on 228 patients with DF and dengue haemorrhagic fever
(DHF). Approximately half the patients received the juice, for 3 consecutive days while the others
remained as controls and received the standard management. Their full blood count was monitored 8
hours for 48 hours. Gene expression studies were conducted on the ALOX 12 and PTAFR genes. The
mean increase in platelet counts were compared in both groups using repeated measure ANCOVA
3) Effects of papaya leaves on thrombocyte counts in dengue (URL:
http://jpma.org.pk/full_article_text.php?article_id=6137) According to Osama Siddique, Ayesha
Sundus (Student, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi.) Mohammad Faisal Ibrahim (Civil
Hospital Karachi.) Dengue fever is on the rise in developing nations like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and
Bangladesh. There is no anti-viral chemotherapy or vaccine for dengue virus and management of the
disease is done on supportive measures. The decline in the thrombocyte count leads to dengue
haemorrhagic fever accounting for complications and mortality. Oral administration of Carica papaya
leaves extract is said to have a positive impact on thrombocyte count. A 23-year-old man was
administered a calculated dose for five days. Blood samples were tested for complete blood count
before and after the administration of the juice. Thrombocyte count had increased from 28000/micro
litre to 138000/micro litre at the end of five days

of papaya leaf juice was beneficial in dengue patients in elevating the total white cell counts and
platelet counts. Based on this report, a dengue patient with thrombocytopenia and leukopenia was
treated in a tertiary Ayurveda hospital. The patient was administered papaya leaf juice in the dose
of 25 ml twice daily along with conventional line of management for a period of eight days. There
was remarkable improvement in the subjective symptoms and the white blood cell count and
platelet count were restored to normalcy.
