Valentines Day is on the corner, and you still dont know what to do to make her
feel special, whats what they expect from us, and if they can fall at that one night,
We tell you all about it in just four simple steps.
INSTALATION
!
Robert Storeys studio uses luries
colors to illuminate new Nike
presentation space.
Set designers Robert Storey Studio
used the bright colours of Nikes womenswear range to inform the brash
interior of this New York presentation
space for the sports brand.
The symmetrical design by Robert
Storey Studio for the Nike Womens
Fall Holiday Presentation 2014 was
formed from a sequence of two rhombus-shaped rooms fitted beside a pair
of hourglass-shaped spaces.
Temporary walls were installed within an exhibition space on Mulberry
Street, where exposed bricks and
ductwork are painted white.
I love to design symmetrical spaces
so came up with the idea of an hourglass-type shape in which to immerse
the audience and enhance the narrative, Robert Storey told us.
He worked on the project with creative director Jen Brill, who divided
the Nike collection into pro bra,
train, run and live sections she
called stories.
I decided to take this literally and
create a route for the audience to
follow using a visual narrative of
light, said Storey. I cut out shapes
from walls and made plinths, which
directly reflected in the collections
design.
Doorways between the rooms and
geometric openings in the walls were
edged with fluorescent lighting, moving through blue, green, pink and
orange.
Some of the gaps were filled with
wire mesh panels, while others featured clothing hung on metal rails.
The space was designed with materials which I felt were sporty, feminine and urban; chain-link fences,
brushed metal, gloss paint and
iridescent lighting, said Storey.
HOME/KITCHEN
Theres a reason the kitchen is called the heart of the home: Its where you and your family gather to cook, to eat, to socialize, and, sometimes, just to catch up over a quick
snack or a cup of coffee. In many homes, the kitchen has evolved into an all-purpose
room, including a dining table, computer desk, entertainment area, even a fireplace.
Todays kitchens are practical, welcoming, and fun. They feature sophisticated colors and innovative components. They also look more like the rest of the house, complete with furniture-like cabinets, wood flooring, and artwork. The perfect recipe for a
beautiful kitchen calls for giving a lot of thought to both the components and the activities that take place in the room, from cooking and cleanup to snacking and socializing.
Style The design of your kitchen
may be classic or contemporary,
casual or formal, high-tech or
homeywhatever reflects your
style preference. If youre worried
about combining looks with practicality, many designs strive to
blend traditional looks with modern conveniences. A generously
proportioned kitchen with classic
materials and up-to-date amenities proves to be both stylish and
practical.
Its always interesting to interview a designer after theyve moved to another apartment and, given
designers penchant for moving, we think eventually we may well be interviewing everyone at least
twice for HOUSE. The ever-elegant David Kleinberg recently switched from a glass eerie near the 59th
Street Bridge to a small but perfectly-formed, very grown-up apartment in the east 70s with a large,
beautiful, airy living room that is as elegant as he is.
Home/Ideas
Over-Accessorizing
Less is often more when it
comes to masculine abodes.
With homes devoid of clutter,
crowded tabletops, and messy
bookshelves, guys know what
is important enough for display
and what is simply extraneous
stuff that doesnt add any
value to a design. Give your accessorized areas a once-over to
make sure everything displayed
is visually adding something
significant to your home.
Overlooking Function
In a mans home, if a piece of furniture or
lighting is not functional or useful, its not coming inside. Guys know that if you want a coffee
table you can put your feet on, a fragile vintage
glass-top option may not cut it, no matter how
beautiful. Though it can be hard to pass on an
item you love, if its not going to function for
your day-to-day needs, its probably time to look
elsewhere.
RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATION
Feeling a little insecure about your virility today? GET IN has got you covered! The magazine has come
out with a list of the manliest eateries in America. Follow their advice, and your next meal will have
you feeling manly, albeit a little closer to a heart attack. Yes, it is a bit ironic: on a list compiled
by a magazine with the word health in its name, manliness goes hand in hand with a high calorie count. But clogging your arteries may be worth it: The menus at these places had us drooling.

Industrial style things are right now
the hit of the moment in interior design, and this new trend has become
one of the favorites to tons of people.
Wanna try it, it is so easy, just follow
the steps and light it up.
Step 1: Find the right mason jar for your light
The size of your socket/desired lightbulb will
determine the size of your jar.
Step 2: Gather your materials
For this project youll need:
A mason jar (shock!)
The socket you want to put the jar on (its okay
if its on your wall or ceiling)
A plastic or metal ring that fits your socket (to
secure your jar lid to the socket)
A nail or wood screw
A pen, pencil, or marker
A hammer
Scissors
Pliers
A flat-tipped screwdriver
Step 3: Trace your socket
Trace the circumference of your socket on
your jar lid.
Step 4: Punch holes in your lid
Use your hammer and nail or wood screw to
poke holes in the lid, along the circle.
Step 5: Add holes for venting
With your hammer and nail-like helper, poke
additional holes around the center holes to
allow heat to escape the jar. This is a critical
step without venting holes, you risk getting
your jar too hot!
Step 6: Remove the center of the lid
Use your hammer and flat-tipped screwdriver
to knock out whats holding the center of your
lid steady the metal between your punch
holes.
Step 7: Insert your socket
After putting the rim of your lid over the lid
itself, go ahead and fit your socket through the
lid.
Step 8: Attach your socket ring
Go ahead and screw your socket ring onto
your socket.
Step 9: Add your lightbulb
Easy enough
Step 10: Add your jar!
Just screw on your jar, and youre done!
